Washington, D.C. based doom metal band Et Mors has announced their sophomore album, »Lifeless Grey«, which will be released on December 16th, 2022 via Blind Corner Productions.
Today, Et Mors is premiering a visualizer video for the first single »Old Wizard Of Odd«!
Tracklist:
01. Drastic Side Effects
02. The Coffin Of Regrets
03. Tritsch
04. Old Wizard Of Odd
05. I See A Darkness (Bonnie Prince Billy)
Et Mors’ sophomore album, »Lifeless Grey«, was entirely self recorded & produced in Washington, D.C. & Arlington, Virginia between February ’22 – October ’22. With 5 tracks clocking in at 45 minutes total play time, including a cover of Bonnie Prince Billy’s classic »I See A Darkness«, Et Mors expand upon their established black metal/funeral doom sound with a wider variety of emotion and influences than displayed previously. With deep organ pedals now holding down the low end, the guitar is able to weave morose melodies between the pummeling percussion and anguished vocals. With »Lifeless Grey«, Et Mors continue to grow and improve their songwriting, performance, and production.
The band comments: “»Lifeless Grey« is our first LP as a two piece, and our latest release after two years since our split album with Surrogate Prey. It’s also our first release that features the Hammond organ pedals, which have been a staple of our live sound for some time now.”
»Lifeless Grey« will be streaming on all major platforms and available in limited quantity on cassette tape and CD!
Biography:
Et Mors formed in November 2017 in a basement in Wheaton, MD a month before their first show; when guitarist/vocalist Zak Suleri contacted 4 like-minded friends with the intention of playing slow, soul crushing music. Drummer, Albert Alisuag, had previously played guitar in the first Filipino sludge metal band, Surrogate Prey. With this 4 piece lineup, the band played the DC metal circuit, & did a 6 day tour of the south with Nuclear Tomb. They released a series of demos and a single before releasing their first full-length album, »Lux In Morte«, in 2019.
That same year, Et Mors parted ways with their bassist and keyboardist. Albert convinced Zak to keep things going with just the two of them, and they decided to remain a 2 piece instead of finding other members. Shortly after the decision was made, Et Mors released their first single with the new, solidified lineup; following it up with their »Tombswayer« EP later in the year. They completed a 19-day tour in support of »Tombswayer« in October 2019 and began working on their second full-length album in early 2020 before the global pandemic put an immediate halt on their writing.
Not being able to sit still for long, the band began writing and rehearsing again following Zak’s relocation to Arlington, VA. They loosely describe themselves as doom metal, but psychedelic rock, post-punk, and death metal influence their sound as well. Et Mors pushes genre and live performance boundaries, making every set unique by improvising often.
They just finished recording for their next release, »Lifeless Grey«, which releases on December 16th, 2022.
