We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with the sludge/doom band Pillar Of Light who are based in Michigan, Detroit. The band’s music is slow and heavy but also markedly intense and unexpectedly poignant. The anguished vocals and the blend of powerful and emotive music that they’ve created here has a unique appeal. It’s rare to find bands that can showcase this kind of emotional depth without switching over to the funeral doom-esque realm. Their multifaceted yet highly cohesive debut full-length »Caldera« is scheduled for release later this year.

The band’s statement: “»Caldera« took form over several years and embodies the collective sense of loss and instability of our times. Each song is its own journey through the depths of human emotion and follows a narrator desperate to find reason in madness, purpose in destruction, and wisdom in futility. Recorded by Andy Nelson and mastered by Brad Boatright, »Caldera« slowly repels into the abyss, making peace with grief before crawling back toward safety. Pillar of Light is immensely grateful to Kunal and everyone at Transcending Obscurity for helping »Caldera« see the light of day.”
