York, Pennsylvania dungeon metal/doom-death trio Cultic teamed up with Crucial Blast for limited edition of »Seducer (Expanded Edition)« EP, set to release on February 9th, 2024. Cultic’s new full-length album coming late 2024.

York, PA doom-death trio Cultic, featuring members of Philly retro-metallers Alms and ritual-ambient ensemble The Owls Are Now What They Seem, have joined with Crucial Blast to release their upcoming limited-edition »Seducer (Expanded Edition)« Cassette on February 9th; this will be followed by the band’s forthcoming third full-length album (title TBA) to be released in late 2024. The new limited EP is now available to stream the three tracks from the A-side.

Along with the tracks »Seducer« and »Seduced«, the »Seducer (Expanded Edition)« full-length includes the early demo version of »Seduced«, and additional material including the full »Prowler Demo« (2017), and grimy live recordings of the band hammering out »The Conqueror« and »Seducer«.

Accompanying this trippy aural assault is the »Whip Seduction« shirt, featuring Rebecca’s outstanding sleazy artwork and printed by Forest Passage Printing.

Cultic is a dark dungeon metal band from Yoe, PA. Their music takes influence from early death doom,first-wave black metal, and punk rock and combines it with dungeon synth interludes, martial industrial elements, and dark fantasy themes. The band formed in 2016 by husband and wife – Brian Magar (guitar/vocals) and Rebecca Magar (drums), whose initial creative vision was to expand on the sounds and aesthetics of Winter, Hellhammer, and Celtic Frost.

Cultic’s front man,guitarist, and vocalist Brian Magar has contributed to a variety of extreme music projects including, Pyroclastix, Guntgrutcher, Layr, Albatwitch, and The Owls Are Not What They Seem. Cultic co-founder and drummer Rebecca Magar became involved in the underground music scene as an illustrator and artist. Going under the moniker Wailing Wizard, she has produced album covers, t-shirts, and promotional materials for various bands,events, and fringe artistic projects. She also joined The Owls Are Not What They Seem as a percussionist on the album Feral Blood before becoming a founding member of Cultic.

After the departure of original bassist Reese Harlacker in 2022, Cultic brought on current bassist, Andrew Harris. Andrew first honed his skills as a founding member of Warhawk in early 2004. He later co-founded Spellbook (formerly Witch Hazel) in 2007 before becoming an integral member of the proto-metal band Alms, whose first full-length album gained acclaim under the banner of Shadow Kingdom Records. His distinctive bass lines and musical prowess have seamlessly integrated with Cultic’s dark and immersive soundscapes, contributing to the band’s ongoing exploration of dungeon metal.

From Crucial Blast’s Adam Wright: “Man, I was immediately obsessed with Cultic as soon as I heard ’em; their 2019 debut album »High Command« stomped me into the dirt with its visions of dark epic fantasy and primal death/doom. That and the other early albums demonstrated Cultic’s sure hand at grinding you into dust, their sound grounded in a fetid mixture of classic 1980s heavy metal, primitive death metal, Hellhammer / Celtic Frost, and a smattering of barbaric hardcore punk. But that pummeling style was riddled with fetid electronics, weird effects and post-industrial elements, turning their already sufficiently crushing and filthy death churn into something stranger, spacier, more otherworldly, perfectly encapsulating the feel and atmosphere that emanates from the band’s gnarly metallic crush. »Seducer« is a taste of the atavistic dungeon sleaze to come.”
