US experiemental drone/gloomgaze duo Chainlacing has released new single and music video »Overdetermined«, available now on all major streaming platforms.

»Overdetermined« is the first advance single taken from Chainlacing’s debut album, »Messuage«, due out on June 19th, 2026 via These Hands Melt. Album pre-orders start on May 1st, 2026.

Chainlacing is Rick Martel and Lauren Crosser. The project started in New Hampshire, where Lauren would travel from Boston to record guitar ideas in Rick’s home studio. The duo gravitate toward lofi, ambient guitar and synthesizer effects, melodic drone, reverb, and gloom – like listening to doom, shoegaze, goth, or industrial on 8-track tapes.

Lauren and Rick are in other Massachusetts-area bands. Lauren drums in a heavy shoegaze band called Slow Quit, based in Boston, and Rick plays guitar in Lowell grunge band Tysk Tysk Task.
