Washington, D.C. based gothic/doom metal outfit Torvus is gearing up to release their new four-track EP ».44 Caliber Angel« on August 29th, 2025.

The first single, titled »Ashes«, is dropping this Friday.

Torvus is a gothic/doom metal band hailing from Washington DC, Maryland.

While having their roots in death/doom metal, Torvus has channeled an evolved sound since their early, filth ridden full-lengths, »Metu Deorum« from 2018 and »The Innate Disease« from 2021, that is most akin to the gothic, melodic, post-punk-tinged likings of bands such as Type O Negative and Paradise Lost at their prime. Their latest album »Words Within« was released on June 28th, 2024.

Torvus are Joey McTorvus (vocals, guitar, keyboards), J.K. (guitar, vocals, synths) and Bileh (drums).

Says the band: “We are so thrilled to announce our upcoming EP, titled ».44 Caliber Angel«. This is our latest and most proud 4-track release, blending gothic metal with more rock elements, and orchestral notes with the inclusion of violin and viola throughout. We felt this was a natural next step in our trajectory, while still maintaining our heavy, solo-laden sound.”
