Albany, New York based heavy psych/stoner/blues rockers Black Tongue Reverend are back with their new album, »Upstate Of Mind«, which was just released on August 29th, 2025.

This album is set in the far reaches of Upstate New York, but in reality it could be set in any place that has seen good times come and go. Any town that has collapsed inward on itself in a seemingly never-ending spiral of desperation, isolation, abuse, and destruction of mind, body, and spirit. Places split open by social decay. Places where the easiest escape is not outward but inward, provided in a glass, or a pill, or on a screen. Where everyone is grasping for answers and the few who provide them aren’t to be trusted.

We have been to that place. You can trust us, because we have no answers to give you. We aren’t saviors, we are historians. We aren’t clutch hitters ready to slug in a walk-off home run. We’re just umpires and we call ’em like we see ’em.

In truth, this place isn’t really a place at all. It’s all around us and we’re all at risk of ending up there. It isn’t Upstate New York, it’s »Upstate Of Mind«.
