“»Under The Glow« was written as a vehicle for me to get back into playing music. I had been in many bands through the years but this time around I wanted to do something different. I wanted to take my favorite parts from the music I loved and distill it down to its core elements. I knew I wanted this to be a two-piece band ultimately, so I had to get creative with my approach, my guitar rig, the songwriting, and arrangements to ensure the final product could be reproduced by just two people live. It was fun doing everything by myself. I really enjoy the process, from writing all the way to mastering. A lot of my heroes have put out “solo” albums where they play all the parts, and that’s what Under The Glow is for me. But now, with the addition of my drummer Derrick, I’m really looking forward to switching gears and writing new music with someone besides myself.” – Sixyearhex
The decline of Western Civilization almost feels inevitable these days. With each “Breaking News” story that hits our feeds the moment it happens, daily life begins to feel overwhelming. There is no time to comprehend what you just read or watched because it’s immediately replaced with another news story. And the cycle continues.
This is bleeding over into the world of music. A new song, a new band, a new tour is being announced every few seconds it seems. This is fantastic, but hard to keep up with. One thing missing is the excitement as the story of a band or album unfolds.
Enter Sixyearhex. This band has a story to tell and will take the next few months releasing each track off the album as a chapter of the book.
