Brett Benfer about his latest two releases: “In 2024/2025 I started around seven different projects at roughly the same time. Two of them released in 2025 while the other five sat in various states of unfinished-ness. During the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 I took all of these projects and put the hammer down to each one to get them to a finished state. »In The Quiet Hours«, »No One Can Save Us Now«, and »Swamp Mentality« have all made it out into the world and now the final two projects will join them (exclusively on Bandcamp now, everywhere else May 8th).

»Over A Frostbitten Infinity« & »The Thousandth Step« (artwork by Nolann Jeanneau), two very different sounding albums. »Frostbitten Infinity« being a fast blackened trash experience while »Thousandth Step« being a thick and heavy juggernaut, something I’ve lovingly termed “funeral sludge”. I hope you enjoy both of these works for the listening experience they give. These are the final releases from the flood of music I created in 2024/2025.

There’s always potential for more releases in 2026 as I am constantly working on at least one project at all times! Only time will tell. Thank you for listening, stay safe & stay heavy!”

Sleep Throne is an independent metal project from Pennsylvania that blends elements of doom, death, and black metal into slow, immersive soundscapes. Formed by multi-instrumentalist Brett Benfer (Ill Omened), the project began as a quiet creative outlet and has evolved into a meditation on atmosphere, weight, and emotion. Each release – whether the slow-burn grief of »Understanding What It Means To Die«, the meditative crawl of »Journey Of A Thousand Steps«, or the sprawling darkness of »Tales From The Bog« – builds a world that’s heavy in both sound and feeling. The focus has never been on perfection, but honesty: raw production, deliberate pacing, and a mood that lingers long after the final note fades. Sleep Throne isn’t about spectacle or genre boundaries. It’s about reflection, solitude, and finding meaning in the slow moments between light and decay.
