US melodic death/doom metal solo project Post Luctum announces new EP »A Horror Is Born«; visualizer/lyric video for title track streaming now!

American melodic death/doom metal solo project Post Luctum has released a visualizer/lyric video for the new single »A Horror Is Born«.
This is the title track of the upcoming EP »A Horror Is Born«, due out on October 1st, 2026.
Following months of intensive writing and recording for the upcoming album »The Indifference Of Time: II«, melodic death/doom metal project Post Luctum has announced the upcoming release of a surprise companion EP, titled »A Horror Is Born«, dropping on October 1st, 2026.
Born out of a desire to break away from traditional album constraints and recharge creatively, the EP serves as an experimental detour from Post Luctum’s ongoing studio work. Written, recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely by Ian Goetchius during the month of August, »A Horror Is Born« will be released exclusively on Bandcamp under a “name-your-price” model, making it completely free for fans to download.
“I typically write what I’m feeling and the headspace I’m in within that timestamp,” says Goetchius. “Sometimes it gets draining trying to stay on that same path and stay focused on the end goal of a cohesive album. One thing that helps me is straying off the path and doing something different. Sometimes you just have to throw paint on the canvas and see what you come up with.”

To challenge the creative process, Goetchius imposed strict rules during the production of the EP:
• One-Month Timeline: Written, recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely during the month of August by a single creator.
• Compact Runtime: Kept strictly under 30 minutes.
• Dark Atmosphere: Focused on maintaining a consistent creepy tone from start to finish.
• Stream of Consciousness: Relying on first-take compositions without auditioning alternative riffs, vocal lines, or drum fills (retakes were permitted only to secure basic cohesion).
• Guaranteed Release: Committed to publishing the final work no matter how dissatisfied the creator felt with the result.
Sonically, Goetchius describes the project as a blend of Post Luctum’s previous works »The Night Carries On«, »Seasons Grievings«, and »Timor Lucis«, elevated by a distinct pinch of creepy atmosphere.
While »A Horror Is Born« was created as a self-described “experiment” to give back to fans before the end of the year, Goetchius has stated that a release on major streaming platforms may follow if requested by the community. Meanwhile, production continues on »The Indifference Of Time: II«, which is taking on an unexpected, yet exciting new direction.
»A Horror Is Born« will be available this October 1st, 2026 on Bandcamp.
