Bog Wizard is a 3-piece doom/sludge/stoner metal band inspired by tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons and Mork Borg, as well as fantasy literature, while often spoofing off the Satanic Panic era. Since 2020 the band has relentlessly released 8 different albums, including two splits with the bands Froglord and Dust Lord, multiple soundtracks tied to tabletop gaming releases, and three full-length albums. Bog Wizard features crushing 8-string guitar riffs and a mix of clean and harsh vocals.

Almost exactly one year after the release of last year’s »Journey Through The Dying Lands« full-length LP, Bog Wizard is back with their fourth full-length LP, »Satanik Panik«. »Satanik Panik« continues the band’s trend of mixing classic fantasy themes with topical events, while also leaning heavier in the ’80s and ’90s moral outrage era. The title track of the album even goes as far as mocking the concepts and bringing it around to modern-day issues, with an upbeat, catchy riff and a chanting of “Satan” that is directly taunting the listeners who will misunderstand it. The single »The Dead Marshes« is an 8+ minute long Tolkien epic that starts the album, setting the tone for the rest of it.

Bog Wizard initially planned this album for a 2024 release, but decided to hold it back after Journey grew into a bigger release than originally intended, and took the extra year to refine the music, performing a lot of it live to feel it out before hitting the studio. Because of this, the album is much tighter and more refined, as the band locks in together for arguably one of their strongest releases to date. The album was recorded and mixed in-house by band member Harlen Linke, and then sent off to be mastered by Esben Willems of Studio Berserk, also known for his role in the band Monolord.

The album ends with a cover of Toxic Love, originally performed by Tim Curry for the classic environmentalist animated movie Ferngully, bringing an experimental bluesy sound for the band, flexing their range.

»Satanik Panik« is available for preorder on vinyl and CD, as well as digitally through Bandcamp. It will be available on all major streaming services on October 31st. The single »The Dead Marshes« will be available on August 29th on all major streaming services.
