US stoner/doom metal band Evil Leaf unleash the second single »Summoned By Smoke« taken off their upcoming debut EP

Gastonia, North Carolina based stoner/doom metal band Evil Leaf has just released the second single »Summoned By Smoke« taken off their upcoming debut EP.

Says the band: “The oldest of the Evil Leaf songs, »Summoned By Smoke« is about dealing with addiction and vices.”

Recorded, mixed and mastered at Houndface Studio.

“Slow heavy stoner doom in the vein of Black Sabbath! Hypnotic winding vocals with topics based on death, the void, weed usage, and Satan!”

Sara (vocals, keys) loves a variety of genres, including metal, opera, R&B, and rock. She studied classical singing for nearly 15 years, and holds a Master of Music in Voice from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Sara has a background of performing in operas, musicals, bands, and choirs, and has been teaching private music lessons since 2013.

“Evil” Wesley McCumbee is a guitarist, songwriter, and the founding member of Evil Leaf. Wes has been playing for over 25 years, in a variety of bands including Sanctuary Ov The Vile, Nihilistic Apostate, and The Ed Gein Danse Routine. Musical influences from Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Domkraft and Kyuss! Outside of music, Wes’ hobbies are camping, fishing, video games and blazing.

NC native Derrick started playing the drums at fourteen. At nineteen, he joined the military, and retired in 2010. Derrick has had a “totally brutal, sickening love affair with music” ever since! In 2010, he began playing bass, and soon after started learning recording and mixing. Derrick produces all of the band’s tracks from his home studio, Houndface Studio.

Matt White is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing music for 25 years. In addition to bass, he plays guitar, drums, and ukulele. Before Evil Leaf, Matt was a member of several other projects, including Spreading Like Wildfire and Crossing Ford. He considers his biggest influences to be Pink Floyd and Deftones. Matt’s favorite hobbies include collecting vinyl and playing D&D.

Lead guitarist Maurice Francis has a diverse musical background having played metal, rock, pop, jazz, and R&B. In addition to guitar, he has also experience with keys and bass. Maurice holds an Associate of Arts in Music and Arts from Southeastern Community College. Before Evil Leaf, he played in a pop, rock, and metal cover band called Southern Betty. Maurice says that he feels inspired, “To learn, create, build, and perform music to the masses. To make my mark on Planet Earth.”
