Salt Lake City’s doom metal conjurors Hibernaut return with »Obsidian Eye«, a six-track conceptual journey into death, decay, and the perversion of rebirth. Dropping July 11th, 2025, the album will be self-released digitally and issued on vinyl in partnership with Olde Magick Records.

Blending doom, stoner, sludge, and heavy psychedelia, Obsidian Eye tells a harrowing tale of infection, resurrection, and the unknowable will of an alien intelligence. Set in a pre-industrial world teetering on the edge of understanding, the album explores the question: Who decides when to die?

Hibernaut unveils »Obsidian Eye«, the third chapter in their conceptual album of the same name. The track opens with the line, “Obsidian seas, the moon, Her iron tides” – a poetic invocation that launches a narrative steeped in cosmic dread and mythic scale.

»Obsidian Eye« follows a voyage across uncharted seas, traversing the dimensions of space and time toward antediluvian shores, where dark priests possess the arcane power to raise the dead. The song merges cinematic ambition with crushing instrumentation, as relentless drums drive through a swirling ether of layered guitars and guttural vocals.

With »Obsidian Eye«, Hibernaut continues to expand their sound into new sonic and conceptual realms, offering listeners an immersive experience at the intersection of doom, psychedelia, and speculative fiction.

The single is accompanied by a B-side, »Goner«, which features an original music video. »Goner« tells the story of biker descending into a psychedelic state brought on by a mix of drugs, speed, and meditative ritual. As he crosses physical and spiritual landscapes, the video offers a visceral interpretation of inner exploration and cosmic escape.
