Berlin four-piece Void Queen will release their debut EP, »I Wanna Know«, on 21 August via Duchess Box Records. Featuring the singles »Power Sip« and »Downtown«, the four-track EP channels desire, loneliness, addiction and existential unease through a dark and forceful collision of post-punk, atmospheric rock and the raw directness of 1970s rock ’n’ roll.
Pounding drums and driving basslines provide the foundation, while the guitars shift between melodic clarity and gritty intensity. Holding everything together is Vilte Stasiuleviciute’s distinctive voice: clear, smoky and powerful, delivering each song with an intensity that cuts through the band’s dense sound without unnecessary decoration. Void Queen refuse to be confined by rigid genre boundaries, instead combining post-punk tension, classic-rock drive and atmospheric weight into a sound entirely their own.
Opening track and recent single »Downtown« captures the physical and emotional intensity of wanting something so badly that it almost hurts. An itch beneath the skin turns desire into something reckless, dirty and impossible to ignore. Playing with dominance, surrender and the thrill of losing control, the song transforms a cold, relentless urge into a driving rock track that offers no easy release.

The title track, »I Wanna Know«, is built around questions that nobody can answer and few dare to examine too closely. What lies behind the lives we lead? What are God, death and freedom, and do they all eventually collapse into the same void? The song captures a mind that refuses to switch off, even when all you want is to silence it for a night, alongside the desire to live as though time is already running out. It is a song for those who sometimes feel too much and nothing at all.
»Power Sip« dives into the quiet desperation of searching for meaning in a life that feels empty. Caught between illusion and reality, the song follows the urge to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary – and the loss of self that can happen along the way. A sense of immortality collides with reality, while loneliness hides behind a smiling face. It is a painful portrait of becoming everything you once promised yourself you would never be, and of how difficult it can be to face your own reflection.
Closing track »Addiction« offers a sarcastic take on “living your best life” while everything slowly burns down. Addiction becomes routine, and routine becomes identity. Loud, ironic and painfully self-aware, the song is filled with bad decisions, genuine friendships and the shame that follows when the noise finally clears.
Void Queen formed spontaneously in March 2024. Drummer Merlin Niklasch and guitarist Tobi Rachuj were playing together in Ende Neubau when their singer dropped out shortly before a scheduled concert. Tobi asked Vilte if she could step in for the show, but during their first rehearsal it became clear that this would be more than a one-off collaboration. By their second rehearsal, they had already written their first original song, »Suga«.
In May 2024, the band entered the rehearsal-space studio of their long-time friend Helge Siara, initially intending only to record demos. The raw quality of the resulting recordings proved so compelling that they became Void Queen’s first official releases: »Suga«, »Seventeen« and a new version of »Six Feet Underground«. Helge, originally working behind the soundboard, subsequently became the band’s permanent bassist and has played a defining role in shaping their sound ever since.
An early invitation to perform in Copenhagen arrived while Void Queen were still playing as a trio, with Vilte also handling bass. Back in Berlin, the current four-piece line-up solidified and the band quickly began establishing its live reputation. Less than a year after forming, Void Queen sold out Berlin’s Badehaus. This was followed by a live session and interview on Fritz FM and a feature in Tagesspiegel, while further singles including »Feelings« and »Sick« continued to broaden and define the band’s sound.

Void Queen’s influences range from Misfits, Sex Pistols, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones and Ramones to Viagra Boys, Pearl Jam, Queens Of The Stone Age, Amyl and the Sniffers, Social Distortion, The Sisters Of Mercy and The 69 Eyes.
With »I Wanna Know«, Void Queen transform the instinctive chemistry that brought them together into a focused first statement: accessible without softening its edges, dark without losing momentum and powerful enough to make an immediate impact.
