Maryland Doom needs no introduction but I’m gonna give it one anyway…

The Obsessed. Internal Void. Unorthodox. Earthride. Just a few of the heavy hitters that immediately come to mind when I think of the term… A love for the slow, the macabre, the groove-laden heavy forefathers of doom and stoner rock (such as Blue Cheer, Paul Chain, Sir Lord Baltimore, UFO, Captain Beyond, Bang!, Uriah Heep, and of course Black Sabbath) combined with an enormous amount of bloody civil war history, being at the foothills of the oldest mountain range in the country, having the nation’s capital in our backyard, and a dash of psychedelics is what spawned our mecca of doom here. From the early days of Pentagram and then the Hellhound Records era to the up and comers of today you’ll find a plethora of musicians and bands who don’t care about fame or money or clout. They want one thing and one thing only and that’s to play heavy music from the soul and share it with you.

This compilation is dedicated to the inimitable Dave Sherman. His contribution to the scene was unmatched and it wouldn’t be what it is today without him. He recorded and/or performed with: Earthride, Shine, Heavy Soul, Spirit Caravan, Wretched, Weed Is Weed, The Obsessed, King Valley, Galactic Cross, Basement Chronicles w/ Bobby Liebling, Hank 3, and Sourvein among others… He was everyone’s brother and biggest fan. He will be severely missed in Maryland, not to mention the entire world. Rest in power Sherm.
