Wales, UK based post-metal band Thrakian drops the second single »In The Grips Of Illusion« taken from their debut album, »The Way«, set to release on October 16th, 2026 via Aonair Records.

UK atmospheric sludge metallers Thrakian have unleashed »In The Grips Of Illusion«, the second single taken from their upcoming debut album, »The Way« (out October 16 via Aonair Records).

The new track continues to showcase the quartet’s signature fusion of crushing heaviness, immersive soundscapes, and mythic introspection, offering another deep dive into the thematic world of their debut record.

Speaking on the new single, the band shares: “»In The Grips Of Illusion« draws on the myth of Orpheus’ descent into Hell and the illusion that we can alter what has already happened or control what is yet to come. We wrote this track last, just as we were about to enter the studio, and in many ways it became a summary of the whole process of creating »The Way«.”

Originating from the coast of Bulgaria and now firmly rooted in Wales, Thrakian is a post-metal/sludge quartet fusing pummelling sonic weight with philosophical depth.

After three years of delivering ferocious, high-impact performances across the UK metal scene, the band now present their debut record, »The Way« – a work shaped by ancient philosophies, personal upheaval, and the turbulent process of rebuilding identity in a new land.

Recorded at Cardiff’s renowned Longwave and Woodcroft Audio Studios, and shaped with the expertise of engineer Timothy Vincent (Evile, Brutality Will Prevail), »The Way« is a 35-minute reflection on the human condition.

The album channels the band’s immigrant experience through pummelling riffcraft and immersive post-metal soundscapes, drawing thematic influence from Thracian mythology and timeless narratives of loss, endurance, and resilience.
