Spanish sludge/stoner power duo Primate Matriarca share new live session video; »Pangea« EP out now!

Alicante, Spain based sludge/stoner power duo Primate Matriarca has recently released new live session video.
Says the band: “At the last Solstice, we invoked the collective unconscious of our ancestors through four new paleophonies. This is the result.”
The University of Wisconsin has made surprising discoveries at an archaeological site in Foia de Castalla thanks to a new technique known as paleophony. The team of archaeologists has managed to extract latent sound material in fossil remains dated between 40,000 and 50,000 years ago, that is, during the middle of the Ice Age. After analysis, it was decided to transcribe this material into musical language, which will be performed by a guitar and drum duo, Joan Lorenzo and Tristán Rico, respectively.
According to Dr. P. G. Berry, the material that makes up these prehistoric pieces consists of “heavy rhythms, riffs that move at a mammoth pace, and cryptic and hypnotic vocals.” According to the expert, the most appropriate sound for their performance could be somewhere between Black Sabbath and Slift.
Primate Matriarca’s second EP »Pangea« was released on April 13th, 2025.
Primate Matriarca is:
Tristán Rico – Drums, Vocals
Joan Lorenzo – Guitar, Vocals
FFO: Melvins, Sleep, Rollins Band, Black Sabbath
