Doomed Confessionary: Arian & David (3 Suns Of Aberran)

3 Suns Of Aberran is a heavy psych rock band from Varaždin and Zagreb, Croatia, formed in 2014. Their sound combines hard-hitting rock with rich atmospheres, psychedelic textures, and occasional progressive detours – ranging from stoner rock grooves to moments of mysterious tension. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Tool, Stoned Jesus, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, All Them Witches, and Porcupine Tree, 3 Suns Of Aberran craft a sound that is both powerful and immersive.
The band currently features Jura Ruža (vocals), Leo Pešut (guitar), Arian Peharda (guitar), David Preložiček (bass), and Hrvoje Dizdar (drums). While heavy riffs and energetic performances form the backbone of their music, their songs often venture into atmospheric and psychedelic passages that add depth and variety to their sound.
The band released their first material in 2017. After a several-year hiatus, 3 Suns Of Aberran reunited in late 2023 and began working on new material. Throughout 2024 and 2025, they released the singles »Vertigo«, »Own Devices«, and »Headfirst«, paving the way for their full-length debut album »Exhale«, released on May 26th, 2026 via Geenger Records.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
3 Suns Of Aberran is a heavy psych band from Croatia. We first started playing together in 2014 when we were still in high school. The original lineup of the band consisted of Leo Amidžić (drums), Arian Peharda (guitar), Leo Pešut (guitar), David Preložiček (bass) and Jura Ruža (vocals).
During this first period we played a lot of different local gigs and worked on material for our first EP – »John Doe« which consists of five songs. Fun fact: The band’s name was actually John Doe until 2017 when we decided to change it to the current name so it would be more unique. As we all enrolled to university, we split for a bit because we were studying in different cities. Still, during this time we released a so-called double-single – »Beholder/Vulture« that we produced fully by ourselves.
After that, we went on a break for a couple of years due to other obligations and then decided to start rehearsing again at the end of 2023. At that moment, our current drummer Hrvoje Dizdar also joined us replacing Leo Amidžić. We started working on new material that would end up on »Exhale«, our first full-length album released in May 2026. This album was also entirely produced by the band and consists of 9 songs that clearly show how we’ve matured as musicians through the years. It was our first album on a label – Geenger Records. To mark the occasion, we organised a promotion concert in Zagreb’s Tvornica Kulture with Tight Grips and Take The Tides as supporting bands.
Our sound is based on heavy rock with a psychedelic and mysterious atmosphere. We love jamming and improvising live. We always strive to explore different sonic capabilities while remaining true to our core sound – heavy riffs and tight performance.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Definitely getting back together after our “academic break” – even though we have written our new album relatively quick, it took us very long time to record it.
What can you be most proud of so far?
We will always fondly remember our gig when we supported the band 1000mods while we were still in high school. It was in 2017 after we released our first EP when we got invited to open for them in the Vintage Industrial Bar in Zagreb along with another stoner band from Zagreb. The event organisers told us that we were the youngest band to play their events since they started organising them. Most of us were still underage, so our parents had to drive us from Varaždin (a town about 80km from Zagreb) to the gig. It was our first gig in Zagreb and was received quite well. Also, we had the great opportunity of hearing 1000mods live and getting to meet them which was awesome.
What was your biggest regret?
Unfortunately, we didn’t quite manage to build on our reach with the 1000mods gig since we had to stop gigging for a while due to academic obligations. That stopped our progress for quite a while then and when we started playing again after university we almost had to start from scratch. So, not taking advantage of those opportunities was a regret.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our album promo gig that we played at Tvornica Kulture in Zagreb – showcase of all the hard work we put in since coming back together to make new music. Our good friends, Tight Grips and Take The Tides, joined us for the gig and absolutely blew us away. Overall, the crowd was amazing and were very happy to see so many faces!
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Resurgence of nu metal, goth and other 2000’s subgenres and aesthethics.
Regarding Croatian music scene, alternative scene never really disappoints, so no surprises there 🙂
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Arian: Messa – »Void Meridian«, Slift – »Fantasia«, Neurosis – »An Undying Love For A Burning World« from the last couple of years and Mastodon’s »Blood Mountain« and »Crack The Skye« as staples.
David: For me currently Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso – »Free Spirits«, incredible album, genre bending and original, very refreshing overall.
Also Steely Dan – »Aja«, Death – »Sound Of Perseverance«, Deee-Lite – »World Clique«.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
To practice regularly. It is also the most difficult advice to follow when combining job-related and other responsibilities with music.
Also, the other one is to use the metronome.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Čvarci (Croatian traditional food, cracklings?) in high doses and Football Manager games.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Varaždin?
We started playing in our hometown of Varaždin. It’s a relatively small town but it always supported rock and alternative music. Currently, there are a number of quality stoner/heavy rock bands from there – Drone Hunter, Take The Tides, Hrmülja and Bogec as well as many other talented artists and emerging young talents. Even though local gigs are less frequent as the years go by, you can still find metal/punk gigs, rock and alternative rock gigs, blues festivals and in more recent years rap/trap shows.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
To work on new material and always look for new ways to evolve our sound in more interesting and unique ways.
