Tampere, Finland based stoner rock trio Rückwater presents their sophomore album, »Bored Machine«, which just dropped this Friday, October 4th, 2024 via Inverse Records.

Finnish Tampere-based alternative stoner rock band Rückwater released their second studio album »Bored Machine« on October 4th 2024.

The band comments: “Musically, »Bored Machine« is a more progressive work than its predecessor (»Supernova«). The songs have been written with a deliberate risk-taking approach and an attempt to diversify the song structures. All the material was recorded live, as on the previous album, capturing the band’s strong chemistry and groove.
»Bored Machine« is a strongly thematic work that explores and partly criticises society and the world around us. »Follow The Money« is about social media influencers who have power because of their large number of followers, but who do not take responsibility for their actions/words. Mental health issues are addressed in several pieces, for example, »Look At The Sky«, »Blue Lake Escape« and »Waiting For The Ride«. »Homo Economicus« is about human greed, while No More Air is about dictators and authority. »N.O.T.S.Y.« is about forgiveness and »Birthday Boy« is a birthday rally.”

Rückwater emerged from moldy basements of Tampere, Finland, bringing with them a unique blend of musical styles that would come to define their sound. Formed in 2010, the band originally consisted of Markku Makkonen, Jussi Vehman and Jape Makkonen, who shared a passion for music and a desire to create something truly distinct.
In the early days, Rückwater honed their craft by performing in local venues and underground clubs, steadily building a devoted following with their electrifying live shows. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical influences, including stoner-rock, metal and alternative-rock Rückwater began to carve out their own sonic identity.
With the release of their debut EP »Bonehead« in 2017, the band announced themselves to the world with a thunderous roar. The EP’s powerful melodies, poignant lyrics, and dynamic instrumentation resonated with audiences, earning Rückwater critical acclaim and a growing international fanbase.
Their debut album »Supernova« released in 2020 showcased Rückwater’s evolution as musicians and songwriters, as they continued to push the boundaries of their sound. From slow-doomy tunes to adrenaline-fueled anthems, each release offered listeners a glimpse into the band’s ever-expanding musical universe.
Their commitment to authenticity and artistic integrity has earned them a place among Tampere most beloved musical exports, and their influence can be felt far beyond the borders of their homeland.
As Rückwater embarks on the next chapter of their musical journey, releasing their second album Bored Manchine, one thing remains certain: their passion for creating music that speaks to the soul knows no bounds.
