Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Magnus, Morten & Mads (Qaisor)

Qaisor is a melodic sludge/doom band from Copenhagen, Denmark, featuring musicians from different backgrounds within the metal scene: Morten Grønnegaard (Rising) on vocals, Magnus Ipsen ((0), Red Forest, BAB O.D.) on guitar and bass & Mads Mortensen ((0), Ethereal Kingdoms, Gespenst) on drums.

Together the group have ended up with a sound that combines feedback drenched heaviness with catchy vocal melodies and harmonies, echoing the sounds of bands like Baroness, Torche and Earth. With their concept debut EP »Mote Of Dust« Qaisor sends you mercilessly through the wormhole of their sci-fi inspired universe. »Mote Of Dust« EP is available now on all major streaming platforms!

Can you say a few words about your band?
We are Qaisor. We love science fiction, trees and all things heavy.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The band was started as a solo project. All the songs were written, arranged and recorded, before the three of us had ever played together in the same room – our drummer Mads even lived in another country. Naturally this made the process of making music a little bit different, with audio files sent back and forth between each other and online discussions via Messenger. However it allowed us some distance from the compositions, and in the end it worked fine for us as we are really happy with the result of the EP. Now we are looking forward to see how the band will evolve in a live setting.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We are super proud of the organic coloss of sound that Angry Music Studio has helped us create on »Mote Of Dust«.

What was your biggest regret?
No regrets.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We have yet to play live.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Blood Incantation – »Absolutely Elsewhere«
Livløs – »The Crescent King«
Offernat – »Where Nothing Grows«

Furthermore, the debut EP by Vaagenat »What Comes After«, as well as the prospect of a new album by Alkymist, are promising overall signs for musical experimentation in the future.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Don’t be in it for the money. Music is much more satisfying to play when passion is your main driver.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Magnus: I love reality tv. »Married At First Sight«, the Danish version of »Survivor«, »Below Deck«. I devourer that shit like cheeseburgers on a drunken night out.

Mads and Morten only like cool stuff.

Can you say something more about current music scene in Copenhagen?
There’s a great scene for metal in Copenhagen right now. There seem to be cool bands for every taste. From hardcore inspired bands like SYL and EYES, to doomy bands like Alkymist and Offernat, modern sounding bands like VOLA and Siamese and a ton of killer black metal bands.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Nothing planned atm.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Right know the next step will be to establish ourselves as a live band and be able to make performances as convincing as the record. From there we will start writing songs for a potential full-length.

How can people best support your band?
Check out our music and share with your friends.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
»Mote Of Dust« is about the destruction of Earth and the fragility of the human race.

Therefore our message is: Be kind to our planet and all of its inhabitants. For now we only have this one to share.
