Australian occult doom metal trio VVARP signs with DHU Records!

DHU Records is excited to announce the signing of Australian doomers VVARP!!
“Since releasing their debut album »First Levitations« in 2020, VVARP (pronounced “warp”) continues to delve into their distinctive blend of occult doom with their second album, »Power Held In Stone«. This album serves as an imagined folk-horror soundtrack, a concept album that weaves together the band’s signature esoteric chants and heavy metal influences. Themes of ritual, mysticism, rebellion, and connecting with a greater power through the natural world are all embodied in this new work. »Power Held In Stone« expands on VVARP’s folk elements, incorporating dungeon synth inspired interludes that heighten the album’s occult doom atmosphere. The music balances slow, crushing heaviness with ethereal harmonies and colossal riffs and rhythms. Recorded by Jason Fuller at Goatsound Studios (Geld, Holy Serpent, Witchskull, etc.), this album combines the dark, mysterious and esoteric elements of genres like doom, black metal, dungeon synth, and heavy metal. VVARP’s »Power Held In Stone« presents a unique melding of influences and sounds, emerging from a darkness yet to be fully explored.”
DHU Records will release their second record »Power Held In Stone«, and (somewhat) consecutively, their first effort »First Levitations« on limited edition vinyl in 2025.
Test Press & Special Editions will be available…
