Austrian sludge/doom/stoner metal band Kerbmaldarr to release their debut album »V« on October 31st via Polawa Records!
Vienna, Austria based sludge/doom/stoner high-flyers Kerbmaldarr are gearing up to release their debut album »V« digitally on Spotify and Bandcamp on October 31st, 2024.
The vinyl and CD editions will be presented at their release concert at Doom Over Vienna XVIII on November 8, 2024. The album will be released via their in-house label Polawa Records.

Kerbmaldarr is more than just a complicated name. Behind it lies a conglomerate of ideas from five creative minds, hailing from all corners of Austria, who found each other in Vienna to make direct, energetic, and honest music, and to have a good time. Here, the boundaries of stoner rock, sludge, doom metal, and pop are explored. Founded in 2019 by Georg Winkler-Wallentin (guitar), the instrumental foundation was quickly established with Philip Poigner (drums) and Markus Langer (bass). The loud trio built the first song structures, full of deep emotion, simultaneously fast-paced and worthy of an action movie soundtrack.
Eventually, the band was reinforced by Harald Teubl (guitar) in 2022 and Prabhin Velankanny (vocals) in 2023. After several relocations between various rehearsal rooms, they ultimately landed near Vienna’s Central Cemetery, where their powerful sessions disturb no peace. The musical backgrounds of the individual band members couldn’t be more different: Coming from genres like death & black metal, sludge/rock, and punk rock, the quintet blends influences from bands like Mastodon, Red Fang, Melvins, High On Fire, and even ABBA into a stylish mix. In 2020, they self-produced their demo »Einstök Sessions«.
Their debut album »V« was also recorded in their own rehearsal studio and will be unleashed upon the world in November 2024. The unspeakable ones have already earned a strong reputation in the scene with their live performances, including support slots for bands like Ahab and Clouds, and an appearance at the legendary Doom Over Vienna festival.
The digital release of their debut work, »V«, will take place on 31.10.2024 across all major audio platforms. For the release of the limited-edition vinyl and CD production (each limited to 100 copies), Kerbmaldarr has once again been invited to Doom Over Vienna (XVIII) on 08.11.2024.

»V« stands for five years of existence, the number of five band members, and the closing of the first chapter, in which Kerbmaldarr completes their debut to shift their focus from 2025 onwards toward developing new material. As vocalist Prabhin joined the band in 2023, the album was primarily created instrumentally, though several tracks have already been outfitted with vocals for live performances.
The two-year album process was entirely self-managed, with Georg leading the way, drawing on his previous experience mixing for some of Vienna’s notable indie rock bands. Instrument recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and sound effects were all handled either together in the rehearsal room or at home on the couch (thanks to modern technology).
Another priority was the creation of high-quality physical formats, as the band members are vinyl and CD enthusiasts themselves. The seamless production of the physical media was overseen by Alexander Drexel from Media Care, based in Vorarlberg. A total of 100 vinyl records (black, 180g) and 100 CDs were produced.
The release is handled by the band’s own label Polawa Records, giving them full control over the process. The artwork was conceptualized by the band and designed by Bernd Grünwald of Eclipse New Media.
