Ukrainian atmospheric sludge/post-metal acts Azimut and Octopus Kraft joined forces for collaborative single »Agni Parthene / Apoleia«, which was just released on May 29th, 2025 via Robustfellow Prods.
»Agni Parthene / Apoleia« is a fusion of sacred soundscape and the apocalyptic. It is a reinterpretation of the classical Orthodox chant – the ancient fiery prayer »Agni Parthene« (Greek for “O Unwedded Bride”), a hymn to the Most Holy Theotokos. Written by Saint Nektarios of Aegina during a time of great hardship, it still offers strength to live even today. The next part, »Apoleia« (Ruin), is a descent – a heavy section filled with pain, despair, repentance, and acceptance.
It is a fusion of the sacred and the human – a journey from light to darkness, from spiritual elevation to inner collapse. The contrast creates a deep emotional rupture: the voice that was just praying for protection and salvation is now repenting in despair, speaking on behalf of a person who is “no longer alive,” yet still aware of their guilt.

»Agni Parthene / Apoleia« is not merely a song. It is a path – a lived experience. A musical ritual that reveals the tragedy of a soul that has lost itself, yet still seeks meaning in the ashes. It is the realization that without inner spirituality, a person is not truly alive. Here, faith meets doubt and despair – and sound becomes confession.
