Only something wicked could have come out of it when four Black Sabbath fanatics gathered together. By summoning Doom Metal classics and adding their own twist of electricity “It lives!”: Summa is born. The group pays homage to the riff masters by doing what they did best: offering souls (and songs) to the eternal doom of existence.

Says the band: “Summa proudly presents its debut release to the world. Recorded in a single-day session at Orbis Studio, the four songs dive into themes of the subconscious while paying homage to the doom classics that inspired the band’s work.

Setting the mood, »Esfinge« uses the pivotal encounter between Oedipus and the Sphinx as an allegory for the artist’s imperative need to turn their pain into art and find answers to their internal questions.

What follows, with »A Morte Crepita«, is a reflection on Death’s closeness to us all as both the most destructive and yet beautiful force of nature. The following song, »Death, My Lover«, thematically complementing »A Morte Crepita«, lifts up the mood with an irreverent take on the myth of Elizabeth Báthory – a reflection on injustices against women and how embracing our darker side can be a source of power.

And finally, »Red Shining Cross« is an 8-minute long tale about searching for solace in the storm of our internal turmoils just to come to the realization that our monsters are within ourselves, in the end; in a place where we can’t run from the ghosts of our past. The song features the special contribution of our producer Peter Vitus, who plays along with André Carvalho in a heartfelt solo that beautifully translates this bittersweet feeling of realization.”
