Slowner comments: “»Leading To Nowhere« is now available on all digital platforms!
Recorded in 2023, »Leading To Nowhere« features songs written after a 3-year hiatus, in which we changed vocalists, opened ourselves up to new influences and experimented with new sonic possibilities, from new instruments to the way we compose. On it, we expand our stoner/doom roots with elements of alt metal and the 5 tracks span a variety of sounds and feelings like never before. We thank all the people who support us, listen and come to our shows!”

Slowner (Recife – Brazil) began its activities in 2018, formed by friends Lucas Valença (vocals and guitar), Renata Ramos (bass), Gabriel Maia (drums), and Isaac Freire (guitar). Transitioning between genres like stoner, doom, and sludge, the band was born strongly influenced by acts like Kyuss and Black Sabbath. In 2019, they released their self-titled debut EP with 5 tracks – which soon gained notoriety in the national and international scene, with more than 230 copies sold on Bandcamp and more than 20.000 plays on Spotify. This popularity led them to tour some states in Brazil. They were also mentioned in the 2020 edition of The Stoner Freaks Anthology and were featured in the Weedian »Trip To Brazil« compilation.
In 2020 Lucas, the singer, left the band just as the covid-19 pandemic began, which took the band on a 2-year hiatus. In 2023, they return to the stage with a new vocalist, Gabriel Sena, and a new album soon to be released titled »Leading To Nowhere«.

In this new material, the band expands on its stoner/doom roots incorporating influences from alternative metal (Deftones and Gojira, namely) and instruments like the synthesizer in a more mature sound lyrically. The new album goes through several themes that derive from a shared feeling of lack of perspectives and alienation in contemporary times driven by increasing wealth inequality, wars, and a mental health crisis – all very pertinent to this generation.
To promote this new work, the band released the track »Dire Cycles« as a single on July 25th. Incorporating synths and mixing the heavy sound, already known by fans, with an atmospheric texture and introspective lyrics.
