In 2026 Black Feather Fuzz presents its new EP »Fuzzy Catharsis«, featuring five tracks that engage more deeply with the “Muddy Nation” (Nação Lodosa). The EP cover art was created using India ink by Tim Blackhorseman, an artist and tattooist from Minas Gerais. The artwork captures the essence of each band member in the grittiest, swampiest, and most authentic way possible – a portrait of the imagery that explodes during their live shows.

The music on »Fuzzy Catharsis« was composed by the band, with lyrics written by vocalist Nibal. Recording, mixing, and mastering were handled by the sonic wizard Manfredo Savassi. Each track oozes layers upon layers of analog fuzz, captured by microphones that sucked the raw grit straight out of 12-inch and 15-inch speakers.

»Less Than Shadow« opens the EP, addressing modern mental health issues and disorders that increasingly plague society – particularly in the context of technological evolution that drives people apart. »All Space That You Can Have« critiques the rhetoric of empowerment that fosters hyper-competitiveness at the expense of cooperation and empathy. »Sentinel« is pure sonic chaos, featuring musical phrases that are both distinct and interconnected, much like quantum entanglement. The fourth track, »Liar, Fire«, is a slice of putrid doom metal featuring guttural vocals from bassist Grilão/Lodoso.

Originally released via the Bruxa Verde label in 2025, the song’s lyrics offer a perspective on freedom: the idea that something mystical – created by society to subjugate you – might actually hold the key to your liberation. The EP concludes with »Balm As Refuge«, featuring backing vocals by Marla Calazans during the choruses. The lyrics explore the erasure of one individual by another and reflect on how music can serve as a balm, helping us to be true to ourselves.
