Doomed Confessionary: Antoine, Paul & Lucie (Witchorious)

Photos by Faallaway
Witchorious is a doom metal trio from Paris, France. Composed of Antoine Auclair (guitar/vocals), and brother and sister Paul (drums) and Lucie (bass/vocals) Gaget, Witchorious crafts gloomy and trippy atmospheres that spawn chaotic doom metal songs with enraged vocals. Their bewitching riffs will immerse you in the darkness of your mind, where you will keep looking for answers.
Their first two singles »3 AM« and »Evil Creature« came out of darkness in 2020. New single »Monster« announces their debut album, set to release on February 16th, 2024 via Argonauta Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are Witchorious and we are a doom metal band from Paris, France. We started in late 2019 and are about to release our first album. Our music mixes old school doom riffs with more modern metal vibes, and we talk mainly about things that make us sick in our songs.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
Our biggest challenge was to find a label to release the album! We really wanted to find someone knowledgeable and passionate to support us.
What can you be most proud of this year?
On top of signing with Argonauta Records, we are very proud of having been able to play the Westill Fest. It is a festival we are big fans of.
What was your biggest regret?
No regrets, we are too young for this! Kidding but this was a great year, really.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
Our “mini tour” this fall. Initially, we were just meant to play 3 shows, and we ended up playing 7 because we were lucky enough to do replacements or find last minute gigs. Having the opportunity to open for The Wytches at Petit Bain in Paris and Westill Fest was really challenging, and playing back home before our family and friends at Les Cuizines in Chelles was a great reward.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
People are so nice! We thought this world would be tough and cold, but members of the stoner doom metal community are so welcoming. You get to meet all these bands and crew who just wanna help and share.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
We will do a bunch of show to promote the album in spring. We’ll play Paris, Reims, Rouen, and also the Graf Zeppelin Festival in Normandy. Stay tuned!
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We want to do as many gigs as we can, spread our new album to the world.
Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
We’ll probably head out to the French coast and rent some cabin for a few days… because champagne tastes better by the sea!
How can people best support your band?
Come see us at our gigs and buy some merch!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thanks so much for supporting us. For those who haven’t listened to us yet: we put our hearts into our songs, so please give it a listen. There is much chance that you like it if you are a doomster, and you might also recognize yourself in our stories. We hope to see you at our next gigs, and we would love to meet you!
