Doomed Nation

Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Daniel, Max & Victor (Doomherre)

Doomherre is a doom metal trio from Stockholm, Sweden, featuring former members of Lobotomy, Brainwarp (later evolving into Nihilist and eventually Entombed), Katatonia (session work), Votary, Blindfold, Eyekon & more. Founded in 2021, Doomherre consists of Daniel Strachal on drums, Victor Takala on guitar and vocals, and Max Collin on bass.

Armed with heavy riffs and a deep respect for legends like Trouble, Candlemass, and The Obsessed, Doomherre is on a mission to carry the torch of classic doom into new territory. Their sound is rooted in the traditions of the genre, but the band is not standing still. With a clear sense of where they come from – and a strong drive to explore new ground – Doomherre is shaping their own path forward in heavy music.

Following the success of their 2023 debut »Bonegoat«, Doomherre have just released their second full-length album »Plaguelords« today, November 25th, 2025 on Skatbo Records and Majestic Mountain Records.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
Daniel: A heavy power-trio of doom, making the presence of heaviness and the power of the riff always present.

Max: Three old farts playing slow, miserable music with way too much passion for being this broke.

Victor: A traditional doom metal band from the suburbs of Stockholm in Sweden.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Daniel: Making the finances run smoothly since we are running the whole show by ourselves, DIY-style.

Max: Yeah, this hobby is a financial black hole. But also work-life balance. We’re older now, have kids and grown-up responsibilities. Real life doesn’t really care about our dreams.

Victor: Juggling full-time work and recording an album.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Daniel: Probably that we have made it as far as we have. Our intention was to make solid, heavy doom metal, and we have achieved so much more already.

Max: The fact that all of us are contributing toward the common goal (world doomination). In every band I’ve been in previously, there was always one or two who were just freeriding (myself included), but in Doomherre we all do our part.

Victor: Everything we have accomplished so far, and we’re just getting started!

What was your biggest regret?
Daniel: That we didn’t start this fun trip earlier.

Max: Yeah, same. It took a pandemic for us to get our shit together.

Victor: That I had not set up my mixing environment the way I wanted before mixing the album. That’s something I’m working on now so I’ll be better prepared.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Daniel: Opening for The Sword in Gothenburg and Stockholm was great – it was fun, and the response was awesome!

Victor: Yeah, The Sword here in Sweden – we learned so much!

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Daniel: Depends. I was surprised to see a really healthy doom/sludge scene here in Sweden. The biggest letdown is, of course, the crappy way streaming works – especially Spotify.

Max: How supportive the doom community is. People actually show up, buy merch and care about the bands.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Daniel: There’s a ton of great music I listen to, but as for more current releases, I want to give a shout-out to Klastos and Hexjakt, who both released great albums this year. Other good stuff this year includes the new albums from Kirk Windstein, Wino, Baest and Coroner.

Max: Hexjakt is my latest addiction. But according to my “Favorite Artists” on Spotify, I also listen a lot to Kal-El, Craneium, 10.000 Years, Slumbering Sun and Kråkslott.

Victor: Paradise Lost – »Ascension« (easily album of the year). Arjen Lucassen – »Songs No One Will Hear«. Hidden Hand – »Mother Teacher Destroyer«. Grails – »Miracle Music«.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Daniel: Perseverance will get you far, so stay focused and clench your fist.

Max: Exactly. Don’t give up. Look at all the bands that opened for Lobotomy (Daniel’s and my old band) in the ’90s – they’re megastars now! Perhaps we should’ve listened to that advice back then!?

Victor: Own your masters.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Daniel: Too many to mention 😉

Max: Ehm… I might have an unhealthy fascination with Paradise Hotel – an embarrassingly bad reality TV show.

Victor: Hallmark Christmas movies during the holidays!

Max: Can’t we just say “no comment”? 🙂

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Stockholm / Sweden?
Daniel: As I mentioned earlier, there’s a great scene here in Sweden in general when it comes to heavy, doomy, sludgy metal. The scene is vital, and it reminds me of the early death-metal scene in the ’90s.

Max: It’s really healthy. In fact, I think doom/sludge is the “next big thing.” It feels almost the same as it did before death metal blew up over 30 years ago. The only difference is that people now seem more welcoming and don’t really care what genre of doom you listen to.

Victor: You can go to any show alone here in Stockholm and still expect to meet someone you know.

Where can we see you live soon (concerts/tours)?
Daniel: We play two shows in Stockholm in December, then we have a festival in Portugal in January. And loads more shows in 2026.

Max: One of the really cool ones next year is Doomopolis, a doom festival where we’re going to play with High On Fire, Kal-El, Slomatics, Hexjakt and many more.

Victor: There is a lot happening in 2026!

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Daniel: Release new music, write new music, collab with other bands, play loads of live shows and let the doom flow.

Max: World doomination!

Victor: We’re looking forward to performing our new songs live! Doomherre is, and always will be, a live band. We thrive on stage, bringing you the sounds of doom!

How can people best support your band?
Daniel: By buying our albums on vinyl, CD, or digital download. Support us by going to our shows and buying our merch. That’s the best way for us to have the finances to keep recording and releasing new music.

Max: Tell your friends, and share our stuff.

Victor: Buy the physical albums or the digital albums on Bandcamp. And follow us on ALL streaming platforms! 😉

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Daniel: If it ain’t heavy, it ain’t shit! Stay true to metal, never wimp out, and let the metal flow!

Max: Don’t quote Daniel on that. It’s not his quote! 🙂 But seriously – thanks for listening and supporting the doom.

Victor: Thank you so much for the great reception we have received for our music! It truly means a lot. See you on the road!
