Can you say a few words about your band?
We are Hollow Corpse from Pori, Finland. We play obnoxiously loud, dumb, shitty music.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Hauling gear and half of our roster struggling with arthritis.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Our latest album.
What was your biggest regret?
Honestly, we don’t really have any regrets. You could say we should have pulled the plug with the original roster earlier, but we hung on to it for so long for very good reasons, and we feel like we did the right thing. The past is in the past, best thing we can do is learn from it and keep improving going forward.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
That’s a tough one, but we’re probably going to have to go with our two recent shows in Espoo. The crowd energy was insane on the first one, and the second one, we literally got to play in a public pedestrian underpass. How fucking cool is that?!
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
How friendly and tight-knit the circles are. Feels like pretty much everyone just wants to do cool shit together and support each other. No egos or status, just the will to make things happen and do something for the community.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
A lot of death metal, doom and sludge. Other than that, Oskari is a total jazz/prog nerd weirdo so don’t give him the aux cord unless you’re feeling like bumping Allan Holdsworth for 3 hours straight accompanied by some fanatic lectures about his greatness and some goofy-looking dance moves. Tommi keeps emptying the room with gorenoise and jacks off to tin can snare sounds. Ben (Eloton) and Toivo are convinced Manowar is factually hard as fucking shit and are willing to die on that hill for some reason.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Don’t give a shit about making mistakes on stage. Just rock out and have fun. If you fuck up, laugh about it, crack a joke, move on.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Tommi: Finnish hip-hop and underground techno.
Eloton: Cheesy Finnish schlager.
Oskari: Earth, Wind & Fire and Jamiroquai.
Toivo: Motown.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Pori / southwestern Finland?
It’s looking pretty bad right now. There’s a healthy amount of surface-level stuff, but where’s all the rowdy shit that just wants to punch the listener in the face? We need more death metal, grind, noise, war metal, black metal, powerviolence, you name it.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We haven’t announced anything more than a single hometown show yet, but we’ve got a few hot cases lined up. Nothing outside of Finland though.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
To stay loud and unapologetic, and rock out. Would love to play a few shows abroad too.
How can people best support your band?
Buy our shit. Listen to our shit. Book us for shows. Come to our shows. Kill snitches.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Never ever snitch, for I am the Snitchfinder General. RATS BEWARE!
