Berlin, Germany based instrumental doom/post-rock band neànder is gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated new album »III«, set to hit the shelves on November 8th, 2024 via Through Love Records.

neànder’s musical prowess speaks volumes as guitarists Jan Korbach (Ånd, Casper), Michael Zolkiewicz (Casper, Not Now Not Ever, Patsy O’Hara), and Patrick Zahn (Ånd), alongside drummer Flo Häuser (ex-Earth Ship), communicate eloquently through their instruments.

When it comes to the upcoming album »III« by neànder, you might have to imagine as if Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Prong, Mogwai, Black Sabbath, Ennio Morricone, Pink Floyd, Faith No More and Venom 2024 playing a session together. neànder always use the multitude of their influences in a song-oriented way.

Can you say a few words about your band?
4-piece. Intsrumental. Kinda heavy.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
One of the biggest challenges was to find a new drummer after our friend Basti Grimberg left the band by the beginning of 2024. We played with him since 2017, recorded 2 albums, 3 eps and played tons of shows together. He’s definitely a person that is irreplaceable. But, we were lucky and found a new drummer in our friend Florian Häuser. Years ago Basti replaced Flo in a band called Earth Ship and now Flo takes his place in neànder.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We as a band are very independent. We work with a small label, a booking agency and a publishing company. All run by friends and people we met along the way. It’s a lot of work to do for everyone involved, including all the songwriting, touring and communication that comes along with the band but in the end neànder is a self determined project and we are proud of this fact. Many of us have played in punk and hardcore bands before. D.I.Y. is still a thing for us.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
The tour right after the pandemic situation was amazing. The shows were postponed for two years and nobody knew how it would feel being back on the road after such a long time. It turned out to be a great tour with amazing shows and a lot of new friends we made. Thanks to all the people who helped to make this happen and to all the fans who showed up. Really looking forward to the next trip!

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Die Nerven – »Wir Waren Hier«
Earth Ship – »SOAR«
The Streets – »A Grant Don’t Come For Free«
Sharon Van Etten – »Are We There«
Rancid – »And Out Come The Wolves«

What are your guilty pleasures?
I love cooking Chili con Carne, it’s my absolute favourite meal. A few years ago I got the idea to mix the Chili up with a broiler chicken, so the chicken tastes like Chili. I admit that I was kinda drunk when I got the idea… 🙂

Can you say something more about current music scene in Berlin?
The Berlin music scene is very diverse. All kind of genres, many different people that come together to connect with each other. You can enjoy a lot of concerts every week from underground gigs to stadium shows. A lot of cultural things going on. Come over here, I highly recommend this city.
