Blue Daze is a four-piece stoner/doom metal band from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The band released their self-titled debut EP on March 28th, 2024. Written and recorded by Blue Daze. Mastered by Dantaye Walker. Mixed by Dantaye Walker and Jon Morrow. Blue Daze consists of Jon (guitar, vocals), Micheal (guitar), Gunner (bass) and Ayden (drums).

Can you please say a few words about your band?
We’re Blue Daze from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Our style is stoner doom but like if it came out of the 70’s lol. I don’t know. We just want to be heavy, slow, and psychedelic man.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Micheal: Biggest challenge we have faced has probably been our lack of gigging. Our town is very hardcore and we don’t get to see a lot of heavy stuff come through. Things have definitely changed over the last couple months. As well as getting to play out of town more.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Gunner: I’d say we are most proud of how well we write together and the most recent batch of songs we’ve written. That was a challenge in itself for us all to get on the same page, so we are proud of that achievement.

What was your biggest regret?
We don’t have any regrets, lol.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We haven’t gotten to tour much but so far, our best concert overall was definitely our most recent. Got to play with our favorite local band Skinman and Starkville, MS band Sludgelung. We’ve become good pals with Sludgelung and this was their farewell show so it was very special to us. As well as getting to open for Eyehategod a couple months ago. Rad shit.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Gunner: Old 70’s-90’s country. I’m bad like that.

Jon: Currently been listening to jangly shit. Like the Byrds and Martin Newell.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Jon: More fuzz!

What are your guilty pleasures?
Micheal: Hehehe. What do you think?? That Jon loves old silent movies that are like 6 hours long. He recommends Faust and Napoleon.

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Hattiesburg?
Jon: Hattiesburg has very established punk scene. In terms of original music though overall, I think a lot of that punk/hardcore ethic seeps into a lot of the music around here so that’s pretty rad. Overall I just think Hattiesburg definitely has some of the best current original music coming out. New and original ideas and styles.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Jon: August 27-30 we’ll be making a little tour around our area. Memphis TN, Birmingham AL, Pensacola FL, and some other cities.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Jon: Currently finishing up a new EP that will come out around August. 4 new tracks. Fuzzy as hell. We’re excited for the new songs though. Our more psych side is starting to come out more and more.

How can people best support your band?
Jon: Literally just by keeping up with us. Follow our Instagram, Bandcamp, listen to our shit, come out to a show if we’re nearby. Say hey in person or dm!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
New shit coming soon. We’re excited for it. Hope you’re excited for it too.
