Can you say a few words about your band?
Fraught is an extreme metal band from Dublin, Ireland. We play an amalgamation of death, sludge, black and doom metal and have released 1 demo, 1 EP and 1 full length album to date.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
We were fortunate enough to not be faced with many challenges this year, but overall as many smaller bands will know, getting your name out and reaching a wider audience is always a large mountain to climb, especially when you don’t have the same promotional budget available as bigger bands. Thankfully our label and PR partner have been doing a great job in promoting us and helping us to reach new fans in areas not normally within our reach.
What can you be most proud of this year?
Definitely the release of our latest full length »Transfixed On Dying Light« via Argonauta Records. A lot of time, effort and dedication went into making it and we are extremely proud of what we achieved on it and it’s fantastic to see it getting such a good reception.
What was your biggest regret?
We don’t carry regrets, we adapt and move forward.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
That we played – a hometown show that we played as a fundraiser for a very important charity.
That we witnessed – Definitely Damnation Festival in Manchester. It was two days of seeing very special and exclusive sets from a number of bands that we admire and have influenced us over the years. Something that we will not get to witness again anytime soon.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Our members have all been around the music scene for a long time, so not much surprises us anymore.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
At present we’re currently in the process of confirming some release shows for early next year in support of »Transfixed On Dying Light« so there will definitely be a hometown show and a couple more within Ireland. We’re looking into logistics of going to the UK and Europe for a few shows later in 2024.

What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
To play as many shows as possible in support of our latest album. Our goal is to reach as many new fans as possible and bring our music as far and wide as possible. We’re already working on lots of new material which we also hope to record and release in 2024.
Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
Copious amounts of debauchery.
How can people best support your band?
By checking out our new album »Transfixed On Dying Light« on all streaming platforms and if you enjoy it consider purchasing a vinyl copy from Argonauta Records. Also by reaching out via any of our social channels and booking us for a show in a city near you!
