Can you say a few words about your band?
Dead Acid People was formed in 2014 in Paris, by four guys, all driven by a strong desire to embrace fuzz.
After our debut effort, »Mocker Fuzzers« (2016), our tuning took a heavier turn with »Earth, Weed & Fire« (2019).
Then our sound grew even denser with the arrival of Matthieu on drums in 2022, culminating in our freshly released third album, »Feed Me«, in December 2024.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Agreeing on a musical direction. Finding the right balance between a Stoner Rock that was sometimes too groovy, sometimes too doomy, all while staying melodic. It took a few years & attemps 🙂
Now, let’s be honest: can music ever be “too doomy”?
What can you be most proud of so far?
Being still there after 10 years & 3 albums, with even more drive, enthusiasm, and energy than we’ve ever had.
What was your biggest regret?
Not having more time to dedicate to the band. To write more stuff, play more shows…etc…
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Touring with friends is definitely a blast. So let’s say, the 2 small French tours we had in 2024, 1st one with High On Wheels & Stoned Therapists, 2nd one with Qilin. Spending time with those guys is as exciting as exhausting 🙂
By the way, we hope to do it again this year (yes, Starmonger, we are looking at you).
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The number of volunteers who keep this scene alive, by organizing gigs and helping bands in any way they can. Our endless thanks go to them!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Math: »Battling Guns« by Slomosa. I love the whole album, but man, this song 😀
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Keep it simple. If you’re not sure this part of the song is essential, just cut it.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Math: Playing FIFA while listening to NOFX 🙂
Can you say something more about current music scene in Paris?
Paris scene is crazy, with more and more interesting bands emerging, and so many gigs to attend!
Just take a look at the number of good stoner/doom/sludge albums released by French bands in 2024 😉
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
To be announced 😉
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Play gigs with friends, have fun together, and start writing new stuff somewhere in 2025.
How can people best support your band?
By buying stuff, definitely. Streaming is providing visibility, but no significant rewards. And we unfortunately don’t tour enough to make money from it. So if by any chance you liked our last album, please spread the word!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Feedback is always welcome. Especially when it’s positive 🙂
There’s nothing more rewarding, when writing & recording music, than hearing or reading that someone enjoyed an album, a song, or even this small part of a song, for whatever reason.
