Idlegod is a three-piece sludge metal band from Tuscany, Italy. Featuring members of Taurus Inferno, Antropofagus, Devangelic, Esophageal, Fixation On Suffering, Interminable Corruptions & more.
Founded in 2011, Idlegod consists of Paolo “Paolone” Chiti (bass, vocals), Lorenzo “Justino” Giusti (guitar) and Stefano “Zven” Doretti (drums).
Idlegod’s new full-length album »Escape From Light« was released on July 12th, 2025 via Nekromantra Records (Mexico) and Caveman Records Productions (Colombia). Recorded by Zven at Orange Recordings. Artwork by Coito Negato.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Idlegod was born in 2011. In 2017 we released the self-titled album, then 2 EPs and now the second full-length »Escape From Light«.
But our story begins before… In 2006 we started playing together under the moniker Ghost Empire (with members of Stoner Kebab, Cosmotron and Nativist). Ghost Empire released the self-titled album in 2010 on double LP via Absurd Creature Records from Russia, then in 2011 Ghost Empire became Idlegod.

We try to play the noisiest music we can
What can you be most proud of so far?
We have always played the music we love and have never turned down the volume on the amplifiers.
What was your biggest regret?
No regrets just remorse.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Live at Riottosa squat, for a festival located in their kitchen…it was amazing.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Discovering that there are a lot of stoner/doom/sludge bands in Tuscany.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
The noisiest music is generally what we listen, from the 60’s garage rock thru punk rock, hardcore, metal and everything in the middle.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
The best advice we received is the same one we could give to every metal musician: Play the noisiest music you can!
What are your guilty pleasures?
Sex, drugs and r’n’r 🙂
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Tuscany?
In Tuscany there are a lot of good bands: Tomorr, Loia, Haze To Burn, Taurus Inferno, Cosmotron, Murk, Noia, Barbarian, Necromorbid, Nausea, Stoner Kebab, Calvana and others that certainly don’t come to mind now…sorry we are stoned.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Unfortunately we have no concerts scheduled.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We want to play even louder.
