Hailing from South Karelia, Finland, Heezer was formed in late 2020 and began their journey as a feel good jam project. That casual jamming mentality was very soon discarded as we noticed bands potential as a fulltime band. Song writing varies from strict heavy riffs and memorable melodies as every member of the band contributes on the writing process.
The band’s debut album »Sungrinder« was released on March 31st, 2023 via Argonauta Records and followed by four-track EP »Mushroomhill Boogie Tapes« on June 30th, 2023 through independet label Hiisaaja Records.
Heezer is Sami Kääriäinen (guitar, vocals), Ville Räsänen (guitar), Antti Vesikko (bass) and Ville Häsä (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
Heezer is a four piece fuzzrock machine from Finland full of great riffs, groove and melodies.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
I don’t know about challenges but we released our debut album this year, recorded and released an ep and recorded and shot a music video for our new single that we will release early next year. So those things and playing shows kept us pretty busy this year but that’s a good thing.
What can you be most proud of this year?
Both our releases. That’s something you have to be proud. Also the band is getting better all the time and can’t wait for next year.
What was your biggest regret?
We didn’t play any festivals during the summer. That’s something why have to fix for 2024.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
Street Cafe at Imatra. There is always a good crowd and everyone is up for some good time rock n roll.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We didn’t win a Grammy.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
We have some cool shows coming up next year and I would recommend Desert Hel festival in Helsinki in April.
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We will release our new single “California” early next year so that’s the first step. Then record and release at least one more single. Play great live shows and enjoy being in a band writing music.
Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
Nothing crazy. Spend some time with friends and family and try to eat as much as I can.
How can people best support your band?
Keep listening to our songs and spresd the word. Of course come see us play live!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thanks for the support and have a great 2024! I know we will.
