The big release day has arrived for Stone From The Sky and their new album four years after the excellent »Songs From The Deepwater«. Freshly signed to Argonauta Records, on Friday, May 30th the trio from Le Mans (France) is unleashing their »Bakeneko«! And for this return to business, it’s time to reshuffle the decks. With a new drummer, SFTS is moving further and further away from the stoner label that was no longer so relevant to their subject. Still with a psychedelic vibe, this 43-minute instrumental journey happily draws on the heaviness of post-metal, the aggression of post-hardcore, and the beautiful soaring of post-rock. Post-whatever in all its splendor, in other words! And I unhesitatingly recommend it to fans of Pelican, Neurosis, Red Sparowes, Russian Circles, and My Sleeping Karma, among other noble references.
The release of »Bakeneko« is celebrated with very enthusiastic initial press reviews:
“Elder is not far away, neither is salvation.” – Rock Hard FR
“Some sincere [and] touching music” – Coreandco
“Successful change of direction for Stone From The Sky” – Sounding Shivers
“A trip between warmth and mystery with an instrumental touch that is always very subtle thanks to excellent melodies” – Eklektik Rock
“It is in a sky full of bile that each sensitive overflow of Stone From The Sky stretches, releasing in an intense and wild ride its most beautiful diamond.” – Wallabirzine
“An unmissable record” – Outlaws Of The Sun

With 12 years of activity under their belts, Stone From The Sky are still driven by the same energy, the same rage to win. Florent Sicard (guitar), Dimitri Even (bass) and their new drummer Clément Lagarrigue are reinventing the band from top to bottom. The aim is simple: to embrace their love of heavier, darker music, no less haunting and, to a certain extent, desert-like. And that’s precisely what you can expect when you listen to »Bakeneko«. An intriguing and fascinating beast, just like the yokai represented on the album artwork, masterfully signed by Johrice.
For this fourth opus, there’s no singing, no hidden concept, but a celebration of spontaneity and authenticity. All you have to do when you press ▶️ is let yourself be carried along through dreamlike strolls, explosions of power and moments of electric grace. A disc of divergent music that listens to itself and reveals its many subtleties over time. In short, from composition to execution to production: Stone From The Sky hits its stride.
»Bakeneko« is out on digital at the Stone From The Sky Bandcamp page, on CD and vinyl at their brand new website but also the Argonauta Records one. For streaming, check it out on your favorite platform, but also on the band’s YouTube channel.
