Formed in 2018, French unit Wormsand have found the right balance between sludge’s dark heaviness and grunge’s roughness. While the musicians lay claim to references such as Yob, Monolord and Alice In Chains, the trio stand out for their bold sonic imprint. Their sophisticated sound combines multiple vocal techniques, shifting intensity at any time. Overpowering riffs and surprising breaks are shaking up an already hectic experience. The band released a self-titled debut EP in 2019 on Saka Čost.

Wormsand’s very first album entitled »Shapeless Mass« came out in 2021 in close collaboration with Saka Čost, Poutrasseau Records and Stellar Frequencies. The ambitious opus dusts off classic stoner doom by incorporating the band’s trademark: rhythmic breakdowns and audacious vocals. The heavy psychedelic influence is perfectly embraced, allowing the band to get off the wall and build a strong identity. Wormsand got the chance to hit the road across France and Europe, delivering astonishing visual and sound performances designed to unsettle the average doom enthusiast. The trio have gained notoriety by supporting heavyweights like Dopethrone, Mars Red Sky or Messa.

In 2022 they released a live album via Stellar Frequencies, before signing to Mrs Red Sound in early 2024. The record label is producing their forthcoming album »You, The King«, due out this November 8th, 2024 on vinyl, CD and digital formats.

From the very first notes »You, The King« dearly plunges into darkness, confidently bouncing between sludge and grunge. Almost initiatory, the album is brimming with good ideas that underline the magnificent and dramatic decline of the king. The fearless rhythm section crafts a truly breathless climax where each second of the eight tracks disturbs, impresses or thrills. The vocals’ meticulous care perfectly manage to showcase the musicians’ technical skills. Finely tuned intros and sound effects borrowed from horror or science fiction films polish off a gripping work.
