»A Defiant Cure« symbolizes that all despair can be tamed, saturated, and sublimated, that all obscurantism can be defeated through a common, amorphous, and unpredictable rebellion. The title itself combines two opposing notions: defiance and cure, a challenge and a solution. This album is more optimistic than »Void Of An Era«, marking an evolution in the mindset and the desire to overcome. »A Defiant Cure« tackles what we all accept as normal, a banality of evil that triumphs over complex thought and an elusive, rich world.

The entire album resonates with this quote from Italian philosopher Antonio Gramsci: “The old world is dying, the new world struggles to be born, and in this chiaroscuro, monsters emerge.”

About the first single »The Art Of Tyrant«, the band states: “»The Art Of Tyrant« is an anthem celebrating the emergence of an uncompromising iconoclastic fire. Inspired by the life of Dora Maar and the many victims of painter Pablo Picasso, the Minotaur symbolizes powerful and talented men elevated to untouchable status by society, justice, and history. The labyrinth represents both society and its rules, laws, and dead ends, as well as the complex thought processes of individuals seeking to understand how to construct and ultimately dismantle the near-divine status of our own monstrosities.”

Biography:

Alta Rossa weaves a sludge that is both brutal, dark, and deeply felt, infused with a poignant darkness and a melancholy familiar to wounded souls. Dark riffs and haunting atmospheres unfold, inviting an oppressive journey that leaves no one unscathed. This journey, where hope and rage stand as the only keys to a nobler future, resonates with rare intensity.

While the band already distills moments of distress and fury in the studio, it is on stage that this rage bursts forth, unleashing itself in cathartic, almost apocalyptic moments. There, self-abandonment becomes total, and raw emotion fills the space.

From their debut album »Void Of An Era« (Source Atone Records, 2022), Alta Rossa shaped ethereal textures in a whirlwind of rage and bitterness. Today, with their second opus »A Defiant Cure«, the quintet shows that despair can be tamed, saturated, and transcended, serving to fuel a collective effervescence, formless and unpredictable. In doing so, they open a path that is both spiritual, philosophical, and material, exploring the duality and paradoxes of a scorned society yet driven by a powerful will for a wild, iconoclastic, and utopian future.
