“»Wonderful Life« presents a beautiful mix of eerie and dreamy. Its shoegazey ghostly tone and note choices throughout the beginning feel like the gothy ’80s party you always wanted to go to. An atmosphere that feels right out of a Stephen King film adaptation intro it’s hard not to feel the fall vibes easing in as you listen.” – Everything Is Noise

The band comments: “»Meine Seele« adapts parts of an old Voodoo Beach text that has haunted us for various reasons for a long time. However, covering the corresponding song 1:1 was never an option for us. While the lyrics in the original version come across as downright laconic and innocent, we have given them a significantly more aggressive – uncomfortable – attire in this new version. One thing is certain: Heike and our featured guest Hendrik Otremba do not accept their desolate existence without resistance. On the contrary. The offensive confrontation with one’s own destiny has an extremely liberating, perhaps even cathartic effect – especially for us who have the privilege of performing it.”

Being two years in the making, »Wonderful Life« is a natural extension of the group’s signature blend of indie rock, jangle pop and neo-psychedelia, while the extended time of writing and recording allowed the band to add an inspiring degree of depth to their sound. They say the devil is in the details, but voodoo is in the constant war drums that resonate in the night sky. The resolution of Voodoo Beach carries through in every vibration of their music and these tracks are a testament to their lasting creativity and collaboration. »Wonderful Life« is a bildungsroman of sorts about a band that was meant to meet its untimely demise, but lucky for us all Voodoo Beach are still at it with this amazing record.
