Indonesian stoner/doom metal outfit Layaw stream their debut album »Tahta Api«; available now on all major digital platforms!

Borneo, Indonesia based stoner/doom metal band Layaw has recently released their debut album, »Tahta Api«, available now on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

Layaw is a band that promotes the “Hellish Rock” genre, like hot lava. Layaw first emerged in the small, boring town of Pangkalan Bun (Central Kalimantan), precisely on December 20, 2023. The name Layaw is derived from the Malay language, meaning “Unclear” or “Chaotic”. The band’s birth was like a disaster in a city where all the music was monotonous and annoying.

Layaw is like fire, threatening to burn anything that gets in its way. Their music speaks with emotion, an explosive expression of humanity in fiery tones and distortions. They are addicted to bands like Black Sabbath and Alice In Chains because they want to rekindle that passion. With this album, Layaw hopes to become the savior of rock music and continue to burn.

Says the band: “This album tells the story of the Goath, our vocalist, who is preoccupied with everything he thinks about – endless pleasure, black and roll, stygiophilia, rock bottom, and even death and suicide, which always haunt him.

This song contains many unexpected musical elements, with fiery, whipping instruments and a faraway voice, like a scream of hellish torment, that truly describes what we want and desire.

So, with this album, we try to convey to everyone that courage will save us, and keep the fire within you never extinguished…”
