We Fog | The new album by the Italian post/noise rock band is a raw ode to love in its various forms!
We Fog are back with »Sequence«, their second album available on vinyl, CD, and digital format starting October 11th, 2024. After giving a taste of it in recent weeks with the singles »Rise To The Sky« and »Kind Warrior«, the Italian post/noise-rock band presents a rough, profound, and mature work that explores the different facets of love.
»Sequence« is a title that reflects the idea of a consequential evolution of We Fog’s artistic journey starting from the goodness shown in their debut, »Float« (2017, self-production). It consists of 7 unreleased tracks that explore the central theme of love in all its forms. From family ties to interpersonal relationships and self-love, the album also addresses feelings of selfishness and indifference, and the complexity of death that kills those who love too much.

Its sonic framework originated a few years ago in the rehearsal room from the interaction between Donato Fusco’s guitar and Giulio Corradi’s drums, supported by Victor Bittencourt’s bass. It was then perfected and polished in early 2024 through the production of the experienced Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator, Faust, I Feel Like A Bombed Cathedral, etc.). The intention behind the choice of producer was precisely to reclaim a powerful sound from the late ’90s and early 2000s and develop the songs, which are rather compact and direct as per the band’s tradition, with more refined and nuanced arrangements.
»Sequence« perfectly embodies these aspirations, marking a tangible evolution of We Fog’s sound thanks to more aware and mature artistic and authorial research.
Track-by-track | words from We Fog:
1. A Father’s Love | It’s one of the grittiest tracks of the bunch. It tells the story, inspired by true crime events, of a girl who killed her entire family, except her father. The latter decided to forgive her nonetheless, to stand by her side and defend her anyway, because she was and still is his only family. It’s a song about true love and forgiveness.
2. Rise To The Sky | It’s the story of a person in extreme difficulty, feeling disoriented and tossed about by events. The turning point comes when he realises what’s happening to him isn’t true. A narrow perspective was blinding his eyes, while the reality of the situation was much broader and nuanced.
3. Kind Warrior | The inspiration comes from Werner Herzog’s documentary »Grizzly Man«, which tells the story of an ethologist who loves bears so much that he leaves everything behind to live with them to protect them but, ironically, will be killed by one of them. The song paints an urban love story, of someone doing everything to protect their partner, swearing to be strong for both, but ultimately dying killed by their love.
4. Meat Without Feet | Born during a trip to New York, from wandering through the streets of the ‘Big Apple.’ The title takes from the title of a fishmonger’s van, and the song is a snapshot of that moment.
5. Trees | It’s another love song. It reflects on how relating to one’s self inevitably conditions the relationship with the partner.
6. No Land For Hope (feat. Amaury Cambuzat) | This track is closest to the early We Fog. It’s a slow, almost a ballad. It speaks of the loss of hope and the triumph of selfishness and indifference, of how borders only exist on maps but because of them, many people die.
7. Timex (feat. Amaury Cambuzat) | A reflection on time passing without the awareness that it’s limited.
We Fog was born in 2015 in Verona, Italy, from the meeting of Donato Fusco (vocals and guitar), Giulio Corradi (drums), and Victor Bittencourt (bass). The band has been inspired by the international noise, post, and math rock scene of the 1990s. The first album, »Float«, was self-released in 2017 and consists of very compact and introspective tracks on the tracks of a dreamy minimalism. »Sequence« is the title of the second album, released in 2024, and marks a turning point in the band’s stylistic exploration, proposing rougher and more energetic sounds.
