Oslo, Norway based progressive rockers Sykofant have just released their new three-track EP »Leaves« this Friday, January 23rd, 2026 via Sycophantastic Records. Available now on all digital streaming platforms.
»Leaves« EP is the second part of their album »Red Sun Leaves« (also featuring »Red Sun« EP), which will be available in physical formats.

About »Leaves« EP:
Following the release of »Red Sun« in 2025, Oslo-based prog rock band Sykofant returns with »Leaves«, the second and concluding EP in their ambitious two-part project. »Leaves« will be released digitally on January 23, 2026, and completes the musical and thematic arc first introduced on »Red Sun«.
While »Red Sun« explored harsh, sun-scorched landscapes and sharp textures, »Leaves« shifts the focus towards lush forests through reflection, movement, and transformation. The EP expands Sykofant’s sonic universe with a broader emotional palette, weaving together intricate rhythms, dynamic contrasts, and richly layered arrangements. Together, the two EPs form a cohesive narrative journey.
»Leaves« stands as both a continuation and a resolution – a natural counterpart to »Red Sun« that brings the project full circle with more acoustic elements than previously experimented with. It highlights Sykofant’s commitment to long-form storytelling and detailed composition.

To mark the completion of this two-part release, both EPs – »Red Sun« and »Leaves« – will be released together as an album in physical formats. The combined release will be available on vinyl and CD (pre-order opens on January 23, with shipping scheduled within the coming months). This physical edition presents the project as it was originally envisioned: a unified album experience, designed for immersive listening and collectors alike.

»Red Sun Leaves«, Sykofant’s sophomore album, is an immersive journey through two complementary sides of Sykofant’s sound. The first half channels the bold, experimental energy of »Red Sun«, with intricate arrangements, adventurous storytelling, and a willingness to push genre boundaries – from progressive rock to cinematic, jazz-inspired, and metal-tinged passages. It’s raw, dynamic, and atmospheric, a vivid display of intensity and innovation.
The second half, drawn from »Leaves«, slows the pace without losing depth, revealing a more measured and open side. Acoustic elements and textured rhythms take a leading role, creating space for reflection and subtle narrative development. While quieter and less abrasive, it retains Sykofant’s progressive sensibilities, moving through cinematic and folk-infused passages with careful, deliberate flow.
Together, »Red Sun Leaves« balances bold experimentation and introspective clarity, guiding listeners across 46 minutes of music that is simultaneously intense and contemplative, familiar yet continually surprising.
