One Velvet Winter by Stef Kohler (ex-Defender) released 5 CD boxset masterpiece »Jesus In Dystopia«!

Stef Kohler (formerly of 80’s power/speed metal band Defender) has just released a 5 CD boxset masterpiece with his project One Velvet Winter, called »Jesus In Dystopia«.

The new concept-album boxset »Jesus In Dystopia« was released October 12th, 2024 and can be ordered now via Bandcamp: onevelvetwinter.bandcamp.com.

Biography:

“A dark and intense avant-garde metal soundtrack for the Age of Control…”

Eight panel digipack, 5 CDs, 32-page full color booklet, over 4,5 hours of uncompromising and diverse music by composer, guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Stef Kohler (formerly of legendary power/speed metal outfit Defender/The Emerald Tablet/November/Gardin).

Progressive metal, classical guitar pieces, rock, atmospheric songs, doom, black metal and eastern music…

“One Velvet Winter creates a grand deep & dark sound you’ve never heard before”

»Jesus In Dystopia« is an absurdist and philosophical journey through the world of big data, manipulation, fear and the growing urge to control. Musically, this trip takes you from classical guitar, psychedelic rock and fragile songs to abrasive avant-garde metal and doom, with dazzling guitar work.

An intense and diverse landscape of meditative interludes, lengthy, heavy and varied epics and alternative experiments.

Stef Kohler started at the age of 15 as a guitarist with Dutch eighties power/speed metal band Defender and released albums with that band on CBS, including the legendary »City ad Mortis« from 1987.

Since that time he has developed into a versatile composer and multi-instrumentalist and was part of The Emerald Tablet and November.

In 2020, he released the first 5 disc boxset by One Velvet Winter: »The Leftovers Of Hope«.

Robert Haagsma of “Lust For Life” magazine: “»The Leftovers Of Hope« is definitely not an album to casually listen to on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It must be undergone like an opera, with the leitmotif of tumbling into a fathomless depression, in order to eventually overcome it. Those who take the time to absorb it bit by bit, await a unique musical experience…”
