»Мгла« (The Mist) is a unique document, capturing the point where metal becomes a methodology for survival. Simultaneously, one can hear the heavy tread of Reverend Bizarre, the hoarse pressure of early Bathory, and even that Soviet intuitive magic that once pierced the records of Облачного Края (Cloud’s End) or Консула (Consul). The visuals work like a layered cake – Бран (Bran), trapped in a black wasteland, alternate with images of endless trains, minecarts, and mechanical dead ends, and this industrial nightmare turns out to be the main antagonist.

The vocals sound like half-strangled despair, which, however, by the end does not descend into nihilistic agony, but rather affirms the absurd as a fulcrum, transforming the meaninglessness of movement into an act of personal will. The Russian language is essential here, and there’s a certain audacity to it: without attempting to imitate Western phonetics, the band draws from their native speech that very deep, almost archaic heaviness that manifested itself naively but aptly in Soviet times. The video doesn’t offer catharsis; it leaves you in this cycle: having reached the limit, the hero doesn’t stop, but simply keeps going, and this stubborn, mechanical fortitude in the void proves to be a far more powerful statement.

Бран is a heavy/doom/black metal band from Moscow, Russia.

The band was formed in the summer of 2024 by drummer Sergey Rusyaev and guitarist/vocalist Andrey Nihil (ex-Stone Tree). Later, Pavel Stravets (Burning Loss, Mägrad) joined the band on bass and backing vocals.
