This new album is a collection of stoner doom metal with some grunge and ’90s alt-rock influences, providing a fresh and uniquely interesting approach that carries the distinct sound of Sea Of Snakes. This formula has been developed throughout their existence, and now they are directing their focus toward a louder, heavier sound with this new album.

About the album, Jason says: “The first album »The Serpent And The Lamb« was about being loud and free in our music, but we now embrace our true identity as a doom band. The new album »Bow To No One« is booming, fuzz-laden, and featuring sludgy guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and powerfully grungy vocals.”

He continues: “We aimed to make a heavy album that takes people on a sonic journey with haunting melodies. The album was a conscious effort to get a heavier, doomier sound along with a new drummer and bass player which added a new flavor. We spent a lot of time on the initial recording, then worked with Matt Lynch at Mysterious Mammal Recording Studio to put the finishing touches to make this album dynamic with all of the ebb and flow to keep it interesting.”

In fact, those who have been following the band’s steps noticed how heavier the first singles sound. The themes are gloom and doomy, creating a haunting atmosphere but keeping the heavy riffs in the background for the dark scene, and landscape, that is created by the lyrics and Jason’s voices.

“The album takes on some heavy subjects into the world of doom and self-reflection. We look at temptation from that devil on your shoulders telling you what to do and how to deal with those ideas. It’s also self-deprecating, and realizing some of the life choices and regrets we make.”

»Bow To No One« delivers heavy riffs along 10 tracks. The vinyl will be out through Glory or Death Records in 2025. But you can pre-order the album already at gloryordeathrecords.com or gloryordeathrecords.bandcamp.com.

About Sea Of Snakes:

Sea Of Snakes is based out of Los Angeles and was formed in 2021 by guitarist Jim McCloskey. Jim had a vision for a stoner/doom band and soon released the first Sea Of Snakes EP »World On Fire«. Since then, the band has had some lineup changes first adding Chris Lowbridge on drums and then Jason Busiek on vocals. Soon after, the band delivered their first full-length album »The Serpent And The Lamb« on Wet Records in 2022. To finalize the band’s lineup, they brought in veteran musician Greg Noriega on bass. After a year-long break from composing new music, the LA-based stoner/doom band has emerged with a new album and a new direction. Guitarist Jim McCloskey and vocalist Jason Busiek have steered the band towards a heavier sound and direction. They aimed to create their most intense, doom-laden work yet.
