2026 has been a monumental year for SolNegre, a year of towering triumphs and heartbreaking tragedy. Their second album, »Anthems For The Grand Collapse«, was released through Meuse Music Records back in April and was met with a deluge of critical acclaim, with reviewers across the globe united in their appreciation for SolNegre’s astonishing, emotive creation. The band themselves have always struggled with their role in the wider music world, constantly examining the question ‘why do we do this?’ Describing their own perception of their music they have explained to No Clean Singing, “We never conceived the songs as performances but rather like private experiences intended to be enjoyed without witnesses.”
However, in the wake of »Anthems For The Grand Collapse« success, seeing the manner in which people took SolNegre’s music to their hearts, the band began to wonder if there might be a way in which to share the intimacy of their performance…and these ponderings lead to »In The Stillness Of The Womb – The Solis Extinctio Sessions / Live From Diorama Sound«.

The plan was simply to capture an in studio live performance, but in the end the session took on far greater meaning. The day before the recording was scheduled SolNegre lost their dear friend and violin player, Núria. Their first thoughts were to postpone or abandon the recording, but in the end they decided to go ahead. The band gathered in silence before recording began and bassist Gebre spoke briefly and poignantly about the new purpose that now informed the recording they were about to make. SolNegre had found the answer to the question that had troubled them for so long. ‘Why do we do this?’ For Núria.
There will be a special premiere of the video for »In The Stillness Of The Womb – The Solis Extinctio Sessions / Live From Diorama Sound« hosted at No Clean Singing on August 10th and the video will also be available on the Meuse Music YouTube channel. The audio version of the track will be available through streaming sites on August 12th, the date of a major solar eclipse, an event reflected in the chosen title for the recording session and one that provides the perfect moment for meditation on the precious, ephemeral nature of existence.
“It is at this moment, when the light withdraws and the world holds its breath, that we choose to share this live session with you.
As the veil between worlds grows thin, we become part of this ceremony of light and shadow, an ephemeral fragment of Eternity to remind us of how fragile and impermanent all things truly are.
Our first gathering, a testament to presence, to absence, and to those whose light continues to shape our path long after it has vanished from our sight.”
