From 20 Buck Spin:

Spirit Adrift refuses to slow down. With »Enlightened In Eternity«, Nathan Garrett, alongside drummer Marcus Bryant, has created yet another monument to the timelessness of heavy metal. And while »Enlightened In Eternity« builds on the sizable foundation established by previous albums, it also sets itself apart in formidable new ways, widening the scope of what Spirit Adrift can be.

What Spirit Adrift have mastered, where others have failed, is the ability to invoke the power of metal’s past, whether it be the 70s, 80s or even the 90s as we hear on »Enlightened In Eternity«, without ever feeling throwback or “retro”. Spirit Adrift urgently represent the sonic and emotional zeitgeist of 2020. »Enlightened In Eternity« carries the same enormous magnitude of the most significant metal records of every era, but Nathan Garrett has carved out his own place among the greatest of songwriters, by crafting uniquely classic and instantly recognizable songs.

Vocally, Garrett again showcases an obvious evolution of his already high-level ability with more soaring soul and snarling venom injected into his classic metal form. The gorgeous guitar leads, melodies, harmonies and unforgettably heavy riffs benefit from a huge, timeless production quality. Drummer Marcus Bryant has elevated his playing to new levels of intensity and tasteful subtlety. And as always, the tracks remain imprinted on the mind long after the album has finished.

Whether it’s the ever-expanding catalog of incredible albums and songs or the searing live performances, the dominance of Spirit Adrift upon the current Heavy Metal landscape is now undeniable. And while »Enlightened In Eternity« already marks the band’s fourth album, Spirit Adrift have only just begun.

A special digital only release from Spirit Adrift, »Angel & Abyss Redux EP«, just came out on June 19th via 20 Buck Spin to benefit the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. 100% of sales will be donated. There are no plans for a physical release.

Nate Garrett comments: “When Marcus and I caught wind that Bandcamp was donating its proceeds on June 19 2020 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, we felt compelled to contribute somehow. Since our forthcoming record has zero clean guitar on it, we thought it would be cool to do something with an “unplugged” type of vibe.

After speaking with Dave at 20 Buck Spin, the idea grew beyond just the initial thought of reworking »Angel & Abyss«. I’ve been wanting to cover »I Think Of Demons« since the beginning of the band, so that was an obvious choice. »The Wind Cries Mary« is one of the first songs I ever learned to play, and Hendrix is the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place. Another obvious choice.

Marcus and I tracked our parts at home, and fortunately some friends hopped onboard to help out with the rest. Thank you to Leon Del Muerte, Joe Rowland, and Max at Brouemaster Visual Decay for coming through in a clinch on such a sporadic and last-minute project. Thank you to Dave at 20 Buck Spin for being down to put it out without any hesitation. And thank you to everyone who is standing up for what’s right. We believe in equality, fairness, justice, and compassion for all people. We hope this little project can help affect some positive change.”
