Swedish solo project Solus Rex, led by multi-instrumentalist Peter Svensson (Void Moon, Assassin’s Blade, Anchorite, ex-Goatess, and more), returns with the new EP »Scenes From Yonder Life«, set for release on December 12, 2025 through Obelisk Polaris Productions. Built around lyrics written over almost 25 years, the EP gathers fragments of past experiences and emotions into a dark, personal and reflective collection, with first single »Isn’t This What You Wanted?« already available online.
Solus Rex continues to carve its own path through the shadows of old-school doom/death metal. After the release of its 2024 debut, a limited-edition four-track digipack EP, Solus Rex now returns with a powerful new chapter: »Scenes From Yonder Life«. This first EP explored the crushing weight of Weltschmerz, the fading spark of imagination, and the torment at the heart of artistic creation. »Scenes From Yonder Life« delves deeper into the personal, the intimate, and the long-buried.
Featuring lyrics written over the span of nearly 25 years, »Scenes From Yonder Life« pieces together fragments of experience and emotion from what feels like another lifetime entirely. The title itself reflects this sense of distance, these songs are echoes from a past self, illuminated anew through Svensson’s unmistakable sonic craft. Dark, reflective, and unflinchingly honest.
