Sweden has always been predestinated to be a doom metal country due to it’s long lasting and utterly dark winter when not even the sun dares to rise over the frozen mystical landscape. And their country itself has something magical, the huge areas where not a single soul seems to live, vast forests and tundra, all inhabitated by ancient legends, spirits of earth, sky and trees, with unspeakable customs by those few who sharpend their skills way enough to arduously wrest fruits off the barren ground.

So, yes, doom metal in all it’s epic depth should find a fruitful soil in Sweden and ever since the mighty Candlemass and Mercy had their glory days in the 80s this particular style in heavy metal music spawned the one or another master of his guild. Nearly forty years after the Initial doom metal cult classics here we have another soon to be in full bloom act which has learned from the ancients and is now ready to proffer the newly written tales of creation and damnation to the audience longing for more enchantment.

With melodies, so dark and haunting as a night out alone in forests and mountains, yet letting a spark of hope shine through the misty veil of ancient dreams long forgotten before nightfall based on riffs so rugged and brittle yet somehow strongly memorable, hypnotic rhythms and basslines that dance around and flow into each other, the six powerful and quite bewitching original pieces of musical alchemy courtesy of Stockholm’s Blissful Stream make sure you as a listener feel at home with style and performance yet utterly disturbed by a macabre atmosphere. Traditions are held high on this, their second album after 2020’s »When The Wolves Start To Circle« from which as their basecamp they embark on a journey into the long forgotten caves lying within the mountains of madness. This is a kind of Lovecraftian take on what doom metal stands for and definitely as true to it’s roots as it is unique. Doomsters shall dare to taste the obscurity from the plates at Journey’s End’s record maker’s sound kitchen.
