In the January of 2024, Final Coil released their third album, »The World We Inherited«; the crowning glory of a triptych of records which began with their vibrant debut »Persistence Of Memory« and continued with the highly critically acclaimed »The World We Left Behind For Others«. While every Final Coil release represents a musical and lyrical achievement to be savoured and treasured, with »The World We Inherited«, the Leicester-based band took huge strides forward into awe-inspiring creative landscapes. Their most complete, challenging, and thought-provoking release, »The World We Inherited« was also Final Coil’s most successful album to date. As a result, the band found themselves in the esteemed pages of Prog magazine, bestriding the stage at Bloodstock Open Air, setting out on their first headline European trek; which included an incredible sold out show at the Supersonic Club in Paris; and a return to the Fusion Festival, where they appeared alongside Amplifier and The Von Hertzen Brothers. The world’s rock press were unanimous in their praise for »The World We Inherited« and the album finished 2024 in many Album Of The Year lists.
“An album of devastating majesty, »The World We Inherited« is reassuringly disturbing.” – Powerplay Rock & Metal Magazine

The one thing that »The World We Inherited« wasn’t afforded in its original incarnation was a vinyl release; but now, after a great deal of thought and planning, Final Coil are delighted to finally give this incredible album that richly deserved honour. However, in keeping with their reputation for always trying to give fans the very best possible return for their money, a simple vinyl reissue was never going to be enough for Final Coil…hence the creation of »The World We Inherited 2025 – Remastered And Expanded«! Alongside a fresh, dynamic remaster of »The World We Inherited« – created specifically for vinyl by original album producer Russ Russell (Amorphis, The Wildhearts, Napalm Death etc), this new version of the album comes with no fewer than eleven additional tracks. There’s a complete live performance recorded at the Firebug in Leicester, never before heard demo tracks, as well as songs cut in preproduction, all available as a special digital download pack.
»The World We Inherited« itself remains a simply colossal album. A joy to revisit, its songs are still revealing more secrets nearly two years on from its original unveiling. Whereas the albums that preceded it examined our past, the societal failings that have brought us to our troubled present, »The World We Inherited« turns its gaze to the future, and the shadows of fear and division that bleed across its horizon. Inspired in no small part by a long and winding conversation with Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman and the prophetic, dystopian fiction of George Orwell, »The World We Inherited« wanders through a murky, broken world of conspiracy theories, authoritarian politics, and chilling isolation. Yet, while the lyrics and concepts provide the framework for »The World We Inherited«, it’s the beautifully textured music that draws the listener into the world of Final Coil and enfolds them in a breathtaking experience encompassing overwhelming melancholy, fierce intensity, passion, terror, confusion and starlit glimmers of hope. Drawing on the textures of post-rock, the emotional drive of grunge, the fire of heavy rock, as well as the imaginative sorcery of progressive rock and metal the Final Coil sound is fresh, original and also rooted in an array of influences from across the musical spectrum. The fluid bass work of Jola Stiles both augments and anchors the entwined guitars of Phil Stiles and Richard Awdry, while the vibrant, instinctive drumming of Barry French steers the band through the exquisite song structures, as Phil’s emotive vocals tell each chapter of the unfolding tale.
The expanded element of this new edition is, in truth, a worthy release in its own right, far beyond the scope of most bonus tracks tagged onto ‘tour editions’ or rereleases. The live set from the Firebug in Leicester is a raw and fiery performance – the energy and power of Final Coil in the live environment captured in all its glory – taken straight from the desk, but then mixed and mastered by the frontman Phil Stiles. The previously unreleased »Evoking History« and »Self Reflection« are genuine treasures, exciting additions to the Final Coil canon, while the demos of »Humanity« and »Stay With Me« offer fascinating insights into the evolution of the songs. Available on a strictly limited edition splatter vinyl with digital download on December 5th, this is the perfect way to draw the opening trilogy of Final Coil’s story to a close…and prepare for the next chapter, which is not too far away.
