Black Moon Cult’s »Stoned Ape« rips open the doors of perception with a thunderous, fuzz-drenched descent into the mind-expanding theory of human evolution. This heavy psychedelic anthem channels thrashy rhythms and cosmic chaos to soundtrack the birth of consciousness itself.

Heavy psych visionaries deliver a mind-warping cosmic tale through doom-laden riffs and psychedelic atmospheres!

Toledo, OH – Prepare to dive headfirst into a serpentine vision of sound and shadow as Black Moon Cult unveil their long-awaited debut full-length album, »Ophidian Future (The Children Of Yig)«, set for global release on September 4, 2025 via Black Doomba Records. Fans can get early access with a Bandcamp-exclusive pre-sale starting August 15, 2025.

A kaleidoscope of heavy psych, doom, and desert-born cosmic rock, the album is a hallucinogenic journey across time, myth, and madness – tailor-made for fans of Nebula, The Sword, and Captain Beyond.

Founded in 2021 by Kaleb Riser (vocals, guitars, synth), along with Kevin Lewis (bass, synth), Jeff Vandebussche (drums, percussion), and Logan Mais (synth, theremin), Black Moon Cult has emerged from the underground with a distinct sound rooted in early Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Hawkwind, yet fearlessly pushing forward into the realms of neo-psych, prog, and fuzz-drenched stoner rock.

Following breakout singles like 2023’s »Supernova« (Tee Pee Records) and »Hollow Traveler«, »Ophidian Future« marks the next evolution in Black Moon Cult’s sonic exploration – and their most ambitious statement yet.

Kaleb Riser explains: “»Ophidian Future« is thematically influenced by Lovecraftian cosmic horror, ancient Chinese mythology, and the biblical tale of Eden. It imagines a reptilian race – cast out and stripped of their limbs – now rising again to reclaim the garden that was once theirs. It’s a cosmic revenge story told in crushing riffs and swirling synth.”

Key lyrics include:
“Leave me my teeth and my tongue and my neck, the rest I will steal in time”
“Ophidian Future, Serpentine masses align, back to the garden, back to the life that was mine.”

The album was produced by Black Moon Cult, recorded at The Mohawk Studio by S. Daley, and mixed/mastered by Tony Reed (Mos Generator, Saint Vitus) at HeavyHead Recording Co. in Port Orchard, WA – lending the record a massive, immersive soundscape befitting its mythic subject matter.

Having toured the Midwest and Eastern U.S. extensively since 2022, including a commanding performance at Maryland Doom Fest 2024, the band continues to build momentum. They’ve shared stages with heavy-hitters like The Obsessed, Today Is The Day, Mirror Queen, The Atomic Bitchwax, and Brimstone Coven.

»Ophidian Future (The Children Of Yig)« is more than a debut – it’s an invitation to shed your skin and enter the cosmic unknown.
